2025 stats: 52 total tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 1 sack, 4 interceptions, 6 passes defended
Stukes was an unranked recruit in the class of 2020 who stayed in-state to walk on at Arizona. He redshirted in 2020, they got some playing time in 2021, as he had 31 tackles and seven passes defended. Stukes was more of a full-time player in 2022, delivering 42 total tackles, one interception and five passes defended. He helped Arizona go from one to five wins that season. For the 2023 season, Stukes totaled 55 tackles, one interception and nine passes defended. Stukes led the Wildcats to 10 wins that season. In 2024, Stukes had a knee injury and only played in four games. Arizona struggled with just four wins. This season, Stukes was a Third Team All-American with 52 total tackles, four interceptions and six passes defended. The Wildcats won nine games with Stukes’s aid.
Following the season, Stukes has been preparing for the 2026 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a second to fourth round pick.
Stukes is a great athlete to add to an NFL secondary. He ran a 4.33-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine and also had a vertical jump of 38 inches. That athleticism shows up on tape. He has great range, as he can cover a lot of area, whether he is in coverage or stepping up to play against the run.
His experience shows, as he has great football awareness and vision. He uses his eyes well to diagnose plays quickly. In coverage, he has good route recognition. Stukes is often able to put himself in a position to make plays because of his ability to read what an offense is going to do.
His versatility is impressive and can help an NFL defense in a lot of ways. Stukes can play the nickel spot or he can also play deep safety and has been successful at both. He even has some snaps at outside corner, but that won’t be a major role for him in the NFL. Stukes also has versatility in coverage, as he can play zone and man-to-man, although his zone is particularly impressive.
Stukes is an older prospect who started his college career in 2020. He will have less runway to develop and will have to help make an impact early in his career. Stukes had a knee injury in 2024, which explains his extra time in college and he did produce when healthy, so it wasn’t like he was burried on the depth chart.
While he is usually a decent tackler, he does have some misses on his tape. He needs to come to balance and break down better before making tackles. If he shows better form, his tackling will improve.
He can cover in man-to-man, but he needs to improve in a few ways. Stukes can stay lower to allow for quicker change of direction to help him mirror receivers. He also does well against short routes, but can struggle defending a lot of the routes downfield with multiple breaks.
Projected Draft Range: Second Round Pick-Fourth Round Pick
Draft Grade: Third Round Pick
