Henderson was a five-star recruit in the class of 2021 who signed with Ohio State out of Virginia. He immediately became an impact player with the Buckeyes with 1,248 rushing yards, 312 receiving yards and 19 total touchdowns. He helped the team win 11 games including the Rose Bowl that season. As a sophomore, Henderson battled injury, but totaled 571 rushing yards, 28 receiving yards and seven total touchdowns. His play aided the Buckeyes in winning 11 games and making the CFP. As a junior, Henderson played in 10 game, racking up 926 rushing yards, 229 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. He led the team to another 11 win season as a result of his play. Henderson decided to return for his senior season, producing 1,016 rushing yards, 284 receiving yards and 11 total touchdowns. Henderson was a leader on a team that ended up winning the national championship.
Following the national championship, Henderson declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. He is a projected day two pick.
Henderson is a great athlete for the position in a few different ways. He has great acceleration at the start of plays, getting him up to top speed quickly. Henderson has great lateral agility, which helps him be elusive in the open field, as he is able to juke defenders. When he gets up to top speed, Henderson is one of the fastest backs in the class and is capable of creating big plays.
He has great receiving skills out of the backfield. Henderson can run crisp routes, giving him the ability to get open. His movement skills make him a mismatch for most linebackers. He has good hands to snag the ball out of the air. Once the ball is in his hands, he has the athleticism to create big plays.
His vision is also good, as he is able to find the hole at the line of scrimmage and hit it quickly. He sees cutback lanes when necessary. Henderson is patient enough to let things open up, but decisive enough to hit the hole when things open up. His vision extends to the second and third levels, as he runs to open space to create big plays.
The first thing NFL teams will need to look into with Henderson is his injury history. He missed plenty of time over his college career. Henderson has suffered injuries to his lower body. Even if he checks out medically, teams will worry about his durability due to the number of injuries he has had.
While he has decent size for the position, he has just average power and contact balance. He isn’t an ideal fit to be used in short-yardage or goal-line situations. Henderson can be taken down by contact, even when defenders don’t wrap up. Adding strength could help him become a more well-rounded running back.
Henderson is a willing blocker, which even shows up in the run game, but he could have better pass-pro technique and recognition. He can do a better job realizing where pressure is coming from and squaring up the pass rushers to hold his block for longer.
