The 2025 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Tory Horton NFL Draft Profile.
Position: Wide Receiver
School: Colorado State
Size: 6-foot-2 and 1/2, 196 pounds
Class: Senior
2024 stats: 26 receptions, 353 receiving yards, 1 touchdown, 13.6 yards per catch (Played in six games only with knee injury)
Horton was a three-star recruit in the class of 2020 who signed with Nevada out of California. He played solidly early, as he had 20 catches for 336 yards and five touchdowns. In 2021, he hauled in 52 passes for 659 yards and five touchdowns. He helped the team win eight games that season. Before the 2022 season, Horton transferred to Colorado State. He broke out in 2022, registering 71 catches for 1,131 yards and eight touchdowns. Colorado State won three games that season. In 2023, Horton posted 96 catches for 1,136 yards and eight touchdowns. His play helped the Rams improve to five wins. Last season, Horton was only able to play in six games before suffering a knee injury. He caught 26 passes for 353 yards and one touchdown.
Following the season, Horton has been preparing for the 2025 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a mid-round pick.
Horton is a good athlete for the wide receiver position. He has solid quickness and can get up to top speed quickly. His top speed is impressive, as he ran a 4.41-second 40-yard dash and that speed shows up on tape. He changes directions and speeds well. Horton has solid body control and has solid leaping ability for jump balls.
He is a deep threat that is capable of stretching the field vertically. Horton uses his speed and can stack corners. Once he beats his man, he shows good ball tracking ability and is able to go get the football. He also wins contested catches often down the field. Horton can create big plays at the next level.
His route running is solid as well. He is able to get in and out of his brakes relatively quickly, but more so in a smooth fashion. Horton was able to create separation from man-to-man coverage at the college level. He was able to find soft spots against zone coverage as well. There is a chance for him to expand his route tree at the next level.
Horton has a limited route tree right now. While he has the ability to run routes decently well, he can add more routes to his tree at the NFL level to be a more diversified player. He can be used as a vertical or run after the catch threat right now, but a more diverse route tree will help him be more productive.
He will have some struggles against press coverage at the next level. Horton can fight off press better with his physicality to start. Too often he gets bumped off his route and it disrupts the whole play. He can also work on his releases at the line of scrimmage to help free himself.
While he has decent size for a wide receiver, he could be a more effective run blocker. He needs work on his technique to keep his hands inside, but he also needs to show more effort and physicality. If he is able to improve in this area, he can help his offense spring some bigger runs.
Projected Draft Range: Third Round Pick-Fifth Round Pick
Draft Grade: Fourth Round Pick
