The 2025 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Tommi Hill NFL Draft Profile.
Position: Cornerback
School: Nebraska
Size: 6-foot and 1/2, 213 pounds
Class: Senior
2024 stats: 21 total tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 1 interception, 1 pass defended, 1 touchdown (Seven games played due to plantar fasciitis)
Hill was a four-star recruit in the class of 2021 who signed with Arizona State out of Florida. He played as a reserve and on special teams at Arizona State. After one season, he transferred to Nebraska. He played wide receiver and cornerback for Nebraska in 2022, registering 17 tackles, but also helping out on special teams. In 2023, Hill played corner full-time and finished the season with 26 total tackles, four interceptions and nine passes defended. Nebraska won five games that season. For the 2024 season, he tallied 21 total tackles, one interception and one pass defended. He missed six games with plantar fasciitis, but led the team to a 7-6 record.
Following the season, Hill has been preparing for the 2025 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a mid-round pick.
Hill has solid size for a cornerback at the NFL level. He measures in at over 6-feet tall and 213 pounds. His frame is already filled out and he has solid play strength because of it, which he uses in his coverage. He has good arm length as well, which measure in at almost 33 inches. His strength and length help him be disruptive in coverage.
He is a good athlete that has impacted the game in several different ways. Hill has played offense, defense and special teams in his career so that teams can use that athleticism. He has solid quickness and good straight-line speed. Hill changes directions decently and has nice body control.
His time at receiver shows up on tape with his ball skills. Hill can track the ball well in the air and attacks the catchpoint. He goes up for the ball as if he is the intended receiver. Hill often times can come down with interceptions if balls are thrown his way, but also deflects passes out of the way.
Hill is best used as a zone or press-man corner and can have struggles in off-man coverage. When trying to mirror receivers, he struggles to stay with receivers as they get in and out of their breaks. He allows too much separation and can get beaten this way. Good route-runners can get the best of him in this coverage.
While his time at receiver has its perks for him being a cornerback, his inexperience at the position can show at times. He can refine his technique, especially in press, but he can also anticipate how the quarterback will attack the defense better. More reps at the position should help him improve in this area.
It is hard to get a good read on Hill’s progression at cornerback because of his plantar fasciitis in 2024. He only played seven games, which also helped contribute to his lack of experience at the position. Not only did he miss time, it likely impacted his play on the field as well. Teams will need to dig into how much it may have affected him.
