Thomas Booker 2022 NFL Draft Profile

Publish Date: April 26, 2022

The 2022 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Thomas Booker 2022 NFL Draft Profile.

Thomas Booker Background

Position: Defensive Line

Size: 6-foot-3, 301 pounds

Class: Senior

2021 stats: 59 total tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 1 pass defended

Booker had a successful four seasons at Stanford and he turned into a good player. He is now heading to the NFL.

As a high school prospect, Booker was a four-star recruit out of Maryland. After signing at Stanford, he started three games as a freshman, recording 29 total tackles, four tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. His role increased in his sophomore season, which showed up on the stat sheet. He tallied 50 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and four sacks. The Cardinal struggled that season, finishing 4-8. For his junior season, Booker registered 21 total tackles, three tackles for loss and one sack in six games played. Stanford went 4-2 in 2020. In his last collegiate season, Booker had 59 total tackles, five tackles for loss and one sack as Stanford had a bad season overall, finishing 3-9.

Following a solid college career, Booker is preparing for the NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a mid-round pick.

Thomas Booker Strengths

Booker has solid size for an NFL interior defensive lineman. He stands 6-foot-3 and 301 pounds. With his size, he has good play strength for the position. He also has decent arm length at 33 and 1/4 inches, which helps him disengage from blocks.

For his size, Booker is a solid athlete. He shows a good jump at the snap of the ball and solid quickness after that. His body control is also of good quality. When he has to move laterally, he shows good agility. With his movement ability, he can be a lot for an opposing offensive lineman to handle.

He has some versatility, as he played defensive end in Stanford’s three-man front. Booker could play 4-3 defensive tackle as well and has the ability to fit a lot of different schemes. Plenty of teams can consider drafting Booker because of his versatility.

Thomas Booker Weaknesses

He has shown some ability to rush the passer, but his sack production is lacking. Booker had 9.5 sacks in his college career, but only has two over the last two seasons. Once he is drafted by an NFL team, he will need to work on the technical aspects of pass-rushing to improve production.

Booker is a solid athlete, but he doesn’t have the greatest flexibility. When he played defensive end at Stanford, he couldn’t bend around the edge as well as other players. Moving inside will make it a little better for Booker, but he still lacks great flexibility.

His game could really improve if he has a better feel for how blockers were coming after him. There are times when he doesn’t recognize where he is getting blocked from, especially when double teams are utilized on him.

Projected Draft Range: Third Round Pick-Fifth Round Pick
