Tank Bigsby 2023 NFL Draft Profile

Publish Date: April 24, 2023

The 2023 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Tank Bigsby 2023 NFL Draft Profile.

Tanks Bigsby Background

Position: Running Back

School: Auburn

Size: 6-foot, 210 pounds

Class: Junior

2022 Stats: 179 carries, 970 rushing yards, 10 rushing touchdowns, 5.4 yards per rush, 30 receptions, 180 receiving yards, 6.0 yards per reception

Bigsby was a bright spot for the Auburn Tigers over the last three seasons. Now he is a 2023 NFL Draft prospect.

As a four-star prospect out of Georgia, Bigsby signed with Auburn in the class of 2020. He was productive as a freshman with 834 rushing yards, 84 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Auburn went 6-5 that season after losing the Citrus Bowl. In 2021, Bigsby totaled 1,099 rushing yards, 184 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. Unfortunately, Auburn had a 6-7 record that season. For the 2022 season, Bigsby had 970 rushing yards, 180 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. The Tigers struggled to a 5-7 record despite Bigsby’s solid play.

Following the season, Bigsby declared for the 2023 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a mid-round pick.

Tank Bigsby Strengths

Bigsby has the size of a workhorse running back at the NFL level. He stands 6-foot and 210 pounds, which is solid size for an NFL running back. His size allows him to have solid power, which he utilizes in short-yardage situations. He also has good contact balance as a product of his good size. His ability to run through arm tackles is also impressive.

His vision is solid. He is able to recognize his blocking schemes and is patient enough to let his blocks develop. Bigbsy finds the hole and is able to hit it quickly. His vision extends to the second level, as he sees and runs to open space.

He is elusive, as he makes people miss on a consistent basis. Bigsby can get out of tight spaces where there isn’t much daylight. He has good agility to elude tacklers and has a good jump cut to help him get through traffic quickly.

Tank Bigsby Weaknesses

Bigsby isn’t the greatest receiver out of the backfield. He could improve his hands and his route running to improve in this area. Bigsby will also have to expand his route tree. Right now, he is likely a two-down back because of his lack of receiving.

He doesn’t have great ball security, as he has fumbled a decent amount in his college career. Bigsby needs to keep the ball high and tight to make sure he is protecting the ball. If he fumbles a lot he could struggle to be on the field a lot.

While he has good vision, Bigsby has a tendency to try to do too much on plays. He can try to bounce runs outside when there are holes there in the middle. There are times where he runs backwards to try to make the big play and ends up losing yardage.

Projected Draft Range: Third Round Pick-Fifth Round Pick

Draft Grade: Third-Round Pick
