The 2025 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Shavon Revel NFL Draft Profile.
Position: Cornerback
School: East Carolina
Size: 6-foot-2, 194 pounds
Class: Senior
2024 stats: 8 total tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 2 interceptions, 2 passes defended, 1 touchdown
Revel went to JUCO out of high school. After spending two seasons at Louisburg College, Revel was a three-star JUCO recruit who went to East Carolina. He played sparingly in his first season, registering eight total tackles. In 2023, Revel had 54 total tackles, 13 passes defended and one interception. Even though he played well, the team won just two games. For the 2024 season, Revel played in just four games due to a torn ACL, but had two passes defended and one interception.
Following the season, Revel declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. He is a projected first or second-round pick.
Revel has good size for the cornerback position. He is 6-foot-2 and 194 pounds, which makes him one of the bigger corners in the class. Along with his size comes good length, as he has over 32-inch arms. His size helps him match up with bigger receivers, attack the catch point and press well.
His speed is great for the position as well. Revel has solid acceleration and can get to his top speed quickly. He is able to run with the fastest wide receivers he has gone up against. His recovery speed is also there, as if he gets behind earlier in the rep, he has the potential to catch up and make plays on the ball.
His zone coverage is specifically impressive. He uses his length well in this regard, as his reach helps him cover more ground. His range also helps him, but he uses his eyes well and keeps them balanced between the quarterback and the receiver. He is aware in zone coverage and can make plays.
Revel is coming off an ACL injury from the 2024 season, which he will have to recover from. On top of that, he didn’t play the greatest competition at his college career both at the JUCO level and at ECU. With limited reps and not many against top tier talent, it is harder to project how good of a pro he can be.
His man coverage could use some work, especially when lining up off the line of scrimmage. He doesn’t have the smoothest transitions and can struggle to mirror in man coverage. His tape has plenty of instances of him losing ground to solid route runners and then having to recover quickly.
He has a tendency to be too grabby in coverage. Especially in man coverage, when players are trying to make their breaks to separate, he can grab to try to catch up. While it wasn’t flagged as much in college, he will likely be penalized more for that in the NFL and will have to find other ways to keep up with receivers.
Projected Draft Range: First Round Pick-Second Round Pick
Draft Grade: Second Round Pick
