Cosmi played most of the 2020 college football season, but decided to opt out before it concluded. He has already proved his worth as an NFL Draft prospect and will now be looking forward to the draft.

Going into college, Cosmi was ranked around the 100th best offensive tackle by most recruiting services. With that, he redshirted in his first year on campus. In 2019, Cosmi was the starting right tackle for Texas and he was named a Freshman All-American. The Longhorns went 10-4 that season with a win in the Sugar Bowl. Cosmi made the move to left tackle for the 2019 season and performed well. Texas only went 8-5 that season, despite Cosmi’s good play. After being named a preseason All-American, Cosmi played eight games at tackle for Texas in 2020 before opting out. The Longhorns were 5-3 with him in the lineup.

Now that he has declared for the 2021 NFL Draft, he will start training. His play on the field has helped him receive recognition that is fully deserved. Cosmi is a projected top 15 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Strengths

Cosmi has solid height and length for his position. It looks like his frame will allow him to add extra weight as he starts to develop at the pro level. He can use his length to get his arms extended into pass rushers and keep them at bay. Shorter pass rushers won’t be able to do shed his blocks because of how long his arms are.

He is athletic and moves fluidly for his size. His mobility helps him get to the second level to help spring big runs. Cosmi is also able to pull to help in the running game. His ability to move well also helps him against athletic pass rushers who try to beat him on the edge. The combination of his length and agility makes him a tough matchup.

His pass blocking is what Cosmi does best at the moment. With him being athletic, he does a great job of staying in front of his opponent. He slides his feet and rarely gives up the edge. If pass rushers try to counter to the inside, he shows great reactive quickness to move with them. His potential to be one of the best pass blockers in the league will make him a valuable draft prospect.

Weaknesses

In order to reach his full potential, Cosmi has to fill out his frame. He is only 309 pounds, which isn’t bad, but he could add more strength with his height. His lack of strength has made it hard to block power rushers and makes it hard for him to move bodies in the running game. If he adds strength, Cosmi could really improve in these areas.

Cosmi lacks some aggressiveness. To start the play, he is not quick off the line of scrimmage, which holds him back a little bit. He also is great at pass blocking and can execute in the running game, but he doesn’t move his man completely out of the way. If he were more aggressive or played with more of a mean-streak, he could finish better in the running game.

His technique will also need some work at the pro level. He usually has balance, but can lunge at times. The biggest problem with his technique are his hands. He is sometimes slow to get his hands on a defensive lineman, which gives them the edge. At other times his hand placement can be off. Cosmi could also have more violent hands at the next level.

Projected Draft Range: First Round Pick
