The 2024 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Ray Davis 2024 NFL Draft Profile.

Ray Davis Background

Position: Running Back

School: Kentucky

Size: 5-foot-8, 211 pounds

Davis starred at three different schools during his college career with good production. He is now in the 2024 NFL Draft.

As a three-star prospect in the class of 2019, Davis signed with Temple out of the state of New Jersey. He immediately produced for the Owls with 936 rushing yards, 181 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. His play helped the Owls win eight games. In just four games played in 2020, Davis totaled 308 rushing yards, 62 receiving yards and one touchdown. Following the season, he transferred to Vanderbilt. In his first season with the Commodores, he tallied 211 rushing yards, 27 receiving yards and one touchdown in three games played before getting injured. For the 2022 seasons, he racked up 1,042 rushing yards, 169 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. He led the Commodores to a five-win season. For the 2023 season, he transferred to Kentucky. He had 1,129 rushing yards, 323 receiving yards and 21 total touchdowns. His play helped the Wildcats win seven games.

Following the 2023 season, Davis declared for the 2024 NFL Draft. He currently is projected to be a mid-round pick.

Ray Davis Strengths

Davis has a really compact build. He is 5-foot-8 and 211 pounds, showing a filled-out frame. With solid play strength, he has good contact-balance. He runs through arm tackles and has decent power. Davis can be hard to find behind big offensive linemen, but is hard to bring down when he is found.

His ability to be a receiver out of the backfield is a competitive advantage. Davis could run more routes, but does a good job running them to create separation. He can be a mismatch for linebackers. His ability to run after the catch is also great to help his team pick up extra yardage.

While he isn’t the fastest, strongest or most elusive back, he can create big plays. He did it a lot against Florida this season. Davis runs hard, can make some people miss and has solid speed. The combination of all those traits can create a big play.

Ray Davis Weaknesses

To be a complete three-down back, Davis needs to work on his pass pro. Davis can show a better recognition of where pressure is coming from to help his progression. He also can square up oncoming rushers to make more of an impact.

Davis has a lot of wear and tear on his body over a long and productive college career. He had 746 college carries. Davis is a tough player, but those hits have added up. He is an older prospect as well, which could hurt his stock in some teams’ eyes.

His vision did improve over his college career, but it could improve even more. He showed more patience late in his career, but there are times when he can miss holes at the line of scrimmage. Davis can miss some open space in the open field.

Projected Draft Range: Third Round Pick-Fifth Round Pick
