Peter Woods NFL Draft Profile

Publish Date: February 23, 2026

The 2026 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Peter Woods NFL Draft Profile.

Peter Woods Background

Position: Defensive Lineman

School: Clemson

Size: 6-foot-3, 310 pounds

Class: Junior

2025 stats: 30 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 1 pass defended

Woods was a four-star recruit in the class of 2023 who signed with Clemson out of Alabama. He was an impactful freshman, as he had 26 total tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss. Woods had a larger role in 2024, producing 28 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and three tackles for loss. Although Clemson had a rough season in 2025, Woods played decently, finishing the season with 30 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and two sacks.

Following the 2025 season, Woods declared for the 2026 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a first-round pick.

Peter Woods Strengths

Woods has good size and strength for an NFL defensive tackle. He stands at 6-foot-3 and 310 pounds, making him fit right in on an NFL defensive line. With his size comes great strength for an interior defensive lineman. He can anchor and hold his spot. Woods is also able to take on double teams. His strength allows him to stack and shed decently well.

His athleticism is nice for the position and it starts right at the snap. Woods has a good jump at the snap and shows off his acceleration. He has amazing lateral agility for his size, as he changes directions well to get around blocks. Woods can also split double teams and also go tackle ball carriers because of his athleticism.

He is going to a player who earns his keep as a run defender. Woods has the ability to anchor, not giving up room when he is being blocked. His strength helps him stack and shed blocks as well to pursue ball carriers. He can take on multiple blockers and free up his teammates to stop the run. Woods will be an asset to NFL teams, specifically on running downs.

Peter Woods Weaknesses

Woods has some issues with his pass-rushing ability. He only had five sacks in his college career and teams could benefit from putting another player on the field in obvious passing situations. Woods can work on this area of his game by adding pass-rush moves to his arsenal. He doesn’t have a go-to pass rush move that is overly effective. Having a pass rush plan and moves, as well as counters, to use will help him.

While he is a good run defender, he doesn’t always have the best gap integrity. Woods can get greedy and vacate his gap to go make plays. This sometimes works, but other times allows opponents to run the ball right where Woods was supposed to be. Staying disciplined will make him a better team run defender at the next level.

His size is solid, but he doesn’t have the longest arms. The lack of length can make it harder for him to stack and shed blocks to make more plays. He will need to make sure his technique is good to shed blocks because long-limbed offensive lineman can sustain their blocks on him for too long at times.

Projected Draft Range: First Round Pick

Draft Grade: First Round Pick
