The 2023 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Nick Saldiveri 2023 NFL Draft Profile.
Position: Offensive Tackle
School: Old Dominion
Size: 6-foot-6, 318 pounds
Class: Redshirt Senior
2022 Stats: Second Team All-Sun Belt
Saldiveri was able to get plenty of experience during his time at Old Dominion. Now he is in the 2023 NFL Draft.
As a two-star prospect out of North Carolina, Saldiveri signed with Old Dominion in the class of 2018. He appeared in three games as a freshman, but then redshirted. Saldiveri stepped into the starting lineup at right tackle in 2019. Old Dominion struggled with only one win that season. The 2020 season was canceled for the Monarchs. In 2021, Saldiveri returned at right tackle where he was an Honorable Mention All-C-USA member. He helped Old Dominion go 6-7 on the year. In 2022, he was named Second Team All-Sun Belt for his play. The Monarchs won three games on the year.
Following the season, Saldiveri declared for the 2023 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a mid-round pick.
He has solid size for the position. Saldiveri measured in at 6-foot-6 and 318 pounds at the NFL Combine. His size fits the NFL, while he has decent length. Saldiveri’s arms were measured at 33 1/4 inches, which are solid for the position. He may not have elite measurables, but they will do in the NFL.
Saldiveri has good awareness, which allowed him to fill in at right guard during the 2022 season for a game. He recognizes where the rush is coming from and has the ability to pick it up. Saldiveri can communicate well when stunts and twists come with the ability to pass defenders off and pick them up.
His athleticism is also solid for the position. He gets out of his stance quickly and shows good agility. Saldiveri can mirror pass rushers. When he is run blocking, he is able to get to the second level and is good at hitting targets in space.
While he has solid size, Saldiveri isn’t the strongest lineman. He can struggle to sustain run blocks and move defenders out of the way. As a pass blocker, he can struggle with power, as he can have trouble anchoring.
Saldiveri needs to work on his hand usage to help sustain blocks. He can have better punch timing to help stall rushers. Saldiveri could also use better hand placement. He allows his hands to get too wide and defenders to get close to him, which helps them shed.
He can also work on finishing blocks better. Saldiveri needs to play through the whistle and make sure he plays with a more determined demeanor. Doing so will likely lead to more sustained blocks and more effective blocking.
Projected Draft Range: Third Round Pick-Fifth Round Pick
Draft Grade: Fourth-Round Pick
