1. Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Ohio State Buckeyes
Ohio State got a dramatic win over Notre Dame on the road in week 4. Their offense had a tough day moving the ball, but having Harrison Jr. helped. The star wide receiver finished the game with three catches for 32 yards. While his statline won’t be one that is remembered for ages, he did have his ankle rolled up on and his presence drew plenty of focus to help the team.
Harrison Jr. is still likely going to be the first wide receiver taken in the 2024 NFL Draft. He displayed his size, speed and route running skills against Notre Dame. There will be plenty more big games for Harrison and the Buckeyes this season where he can show why he is projected to be the first receiver off the board.
2. Joe Alt, OT, Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Notre Dame lost a tough one to Ohio State in the final seconds in week 4. Their offensive line held up well against a talented Ohio State defensive front. They helped Notre Dame average 4.5 yards per rush and didn’t allow a sack. Alt held his own at left tackle for the Fighting Irish.
The performance didn’t end the team would’ve liked, but the offensive line, Alt included, can hold their heads high. Alt showed he could handle the power rushers Ohio State sent at him and really helped clear big holes in the running game. He likely has cemented himself as a first-round pick and the second offensive tackle taken.
3. Keon Coleman, WR, Florida State Fighting Irish
Florida State defeated Clemson on the road in overtime for a huge win that helps them stay highly rated in the CFP rankings. Their offense played well, as their skill position players posed a huge problem for Clemson’s defense. Coleman was a matchup problem, finishing the game with five catches for 86 yards and two touchdowns.
Florida State found a gem in the transfer portal in Coleman, who has really improved his draft stock this season. He showed what a good blend of size and speed could do, as he was able to score twice, one of which came in overtime. Coleman looks like a future first round pick and could get selected as the second receiver off the board behind Harrison Jr.
4. Jeremiah Trotter Jr., LB Clemson Tigers
While Clemson lost in overtime to Florida State, their defense battled during a tough game. They allowed 31 points, but only 24 of those came in regulation. Trotter was a big catalyst for their defense playing well. He finished the game with six total tackles, one sack and 1.5 tackles for loss.
Trotter’s impact was more than just the box score, as he even got some pressure on Cade Klubnik as well. He is a very instinctive football player and put his team in a good position with his play. His athleticism and top end speed will be questioned, but he has plenty of time to continue building his stock through the rest of the season.
5. Cooper DeJean, CB, Iowa Hawkeyes
Iowa was no match for Penn State on the road, as they dropped the game 31-0. Their defense fought hard at times, but their offense was unable to move the ball or retain possession. DeJean chipped in with five total tackles and also had two punt returns for 15 yards.
DeJean played well despite his team not being close in this one. As mentioned in the preview of the week, he may play corner or safety in the league, but either way he can create an impact. Iowa won’t have too many big games remaining on their schedule, but DeJean has already put himself in
