NFL Draft Prospects to Watch in College Football Week 3

While the 2027 NFL Draft is still far off in the distance, players who will be drafted early are on the field now. Each week presents unique matchups for draft prospects and this week is no different. Here are NFL Draft prospects to watch in college football week 3.

1. Trey’Dez Green, TE, LSU Tigers

Green was a highly-touted recruit who joined LSU in 2024 and immediately helped the offense with 101 receiving yards and four touchdowns. In 2025, he took a big step forward with 33 catches for 433 yards and seven touchdowns. So far this season, he has been even better with 10 catches for 162 yards and one touchdown. This week, Green could help open up the offense for LSU against Ole Miss.

At 6-foot-7 and 237 pounds, Green has a unique blend of size, athleticism and body control that helps his game. He is a matchup nightmare in every sense. He is a good red zone threat, high points the ball and has a big catch radius. Green can continue filling out his frame and improving his run blocking to increase his stock. He is currently projected to be a first-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.

2. Kewan Lacy, RB, Ole Miss Rebels

Lacy originally played for Missouri in 2024 and had just 104 rushing yards. He transferred to Ole Miss in 2025 and was very productive with 1,567 rushing yards, 177 receiving yards and 24 touchdowns. He battled injury in the first game of the season against Louisville, but then played more against Charlotte in week 2. In week 3, Lacy will be going up against a talented LSU defense.

He has decent size for an NFL running back, standing at 5-foot-11 and 205 pounds. He has good contact balance and can run through arm tackles. He has good quickness and speed, but more impressive is his vision, which extends to the open field when he can find open space to get to. There are times when Lacy could be more patient and he could show more as a receiver to improve his stock. He is currently projected to be a second-or third-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.

3. Amare Thomas, WR, Houston Cougars

Thomas started his career at UAB, where he had 115 catches for 1,107 yards and 11 touchdowns through two seasons. He transferred to Houston in 2025 and impressed with 966 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. So far in 2026, he has 11 receptions for 162 yards and two touchdowns. Thomas will be going up against a quality team in Texas Tech for week 3.

At 6-foot and 205 pounds, Thomas has solid size for an NFL receiver. He has good hands, making contested catches and adjusting to the ball in the air well. Thomas isn’t afraid to go over the middle and is a threat with the ball in his hands after the catch. He likely will not test well athletically and could improve his route-running to help him separate a bit better. He currently is projected to be a day two pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.

4. Terrance Carter, TE, Texas Tech Red Raiders

Carter began his collegiate career at Louisiana. Over three seasons with the Ragin’ Cajuns, he had 76 receptions for 944 yards and seven touchdowns, showing good growth during his time there. He transferred to Texas Tech in 2025 and adjusted to a new level of play well with 55 catches for 624 yards and five touchdowns. Carter will be going up against a Houston team that could test him a bit.

He is a little undersized for an NFL tight end at 6-foot-2 and 245 pounds. Carter is willing as a blocker, but he has NFL Draft value because of his ability as a pass-catcher. He has good ability to separate, good hands and the ability to run after the catch. NFL minds will have to use him as a unique offensive weapon instead of an in-line tight end, but that is something plenty of teams are currently doing. Carter is projected to be a day two pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.

5. Clev Lubin, EDGE, Louisville Cardinals

Lubin played at Coastal Carolina in 2024, where he had 12 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks. He transferred to Louisville in 2025 and had no issue adjusting to ACC play. Lubin had 13.5 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks last season. This year, he is still waiting to get his first sack, but he could have his chance to make a big play against a solid SMU team.

At 6-foot-3 and 260 pounds, Lubin has a filled-out frame. He doesn’t have the greatest length, which can make it tough for him to shed at times. Lubin also doesn’t have great flexibility to bend around the edge and can continue working on his counter moves. He has good strength for the position and uses his hands well. Against the run, he can set the edge well, while he has a some decent pass rush moves to help him get pressure. He currently is projected to be a day two pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.
