1. J.J. McCarthy, QB, Michigan Wolverines
MIchigan kept their undefeated year alive through the last game of the regular season. They won a tight matchup with their rivals Ohio State, 30-24. While they were fueled by their running game and defense, J.J. McCarthy made some nice throws. He finished the game with 148 passing yards, one touchdown and no interceptions on 16/20 passing.
Because Michigan’s schedule was easy, McCarthy needed to prove himself in a game against a good defense. Against Penn State he only threw eight passes. This game didn’t have the most volume, but he handled the game well and improved his stock. He is currently projected to be selected in the first or second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
2. Blake Corum, RB, Michigan Wolverines
Corum was not healthy for the game against Ohio State last season. He was back this season and showed he was healthy Corum had an incredible game and helped Michigan get the win. He finished the game with 22 carries for 88 yards and two touchdowns.
His injury history will be looked into, but Corum appeared to bounce back well this season. He is a good short yardage runner and has good quickness. There are plenty of solid running backs in the class, but Corum has built up his value through the last few seasons. He is projected to be a day two pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
3. Denzel Burke, CB, Ohio State Buckeyes
Ohio State lost to Michigan, but had a solid season at 11-1. Their defense took a real step forward this season and a lot of that was thanks to the play of Burke. He has been a good corner all year when healthy. Against Michigan, he had five total tackles.
Burke made sure to not let up big plays behind him, which is something that cursed Ohio State in the past. He specifically didn’t bite on double moves, showing his ability to be a shutdown corner. His play has warranted him being selected in the first or second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
4. Chop Robinson, EDGE, Penn State Nittany Lions
Penn State was able to get a win over Michigan State in their regular-season finale, 42-0. Their defense played lights out to get the shutout. They were able to total seven sacks as a team. Robinson has been a big part of their pass rush all season, including this game, even if he didn’t register a sack.
Robinson’s quick first step sets him up for success. He has had a good season with 7.5 tackles for loss and four sacks in 10 games. This season Robinson’s stock has improved. He is projected to be a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
5. Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU Tigers
LSU finished the regular season with a win over Texas A&M to put their record at 9-3. While things started slowly, their offense quickly changed things around. They scored 42 points in the win. Jayden Daniels showed his talent in this game. He finished with 235 passing yards, four passing touchdowns and 120 rushing yards.
Daniels has been pushing the ball downfield this year, which has made him a more dynamic player. He can create big plays with his arm or his legs. His play has probably won him the Heisman and put him in the range to be selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
