While the 2021 NFL Draft is still far off in the distance, players that will be drafted early are on the field now. Each week presents unique matchups for draft prospects and this week is no different. Here are NFL Draft prospects to watch in college football week 12.
1. Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State Buckeyes
Ohio State has their first big game of the season against Indiana. Their offense will need to be on point this week and that all starts with Justin Fields. Fields has had an incredible season with 908 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and no interceptions. He only has nine incompletions through the first three games of the season.
While Trevor Lawrence is locked in as the top quarterback, Justin Fields has looked good enough to be the second quarterback off the board in the 2021 NFL Draft. He has a lot more games to play, but Fields looks like a future franchise quarterback in the NFL.
2. Paddy Fisher, LB, Northwestern Wildcats
A few years ago, Paddy Fisher was seen as a potential first round pick. Things haven’t exactly stayed that way, but Fisher still leads the Northwestern defense well. They will need to be at their best this weekend when they play Wisconsin.
Fisher has 33 total tackles in four games this season. He has a nose for the ball, but he can be a liability in coverage, which holds back his draft stock. Fisher is expected to be a mid to late round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
3. Jack Sanborn, LB, Wisconsin Badgers
Wisconsin is favored to beat Northwestern, but they’ll still need a good effort from their defense. That starts with their linebackers, including Jack Sanborn. The junior had 90 total tackles last season, which makes him worth watching, even if he hasn’t made a huge impact this season.
Sanborn has only played two games so far this season and needs to have a marquee game. This could be a huge game for Sanborn for that reason. He is currently projected to be a mid-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
