The bowl season gives fans and scouts alike a chance to analyze NFL Draft prospects against solid competition. Bowl scheduling allows all eyes to be on each game. Here are the NFL Draft prospects in the 2022 Orange Bowl.
Tennessee Volunteers Draft Prospects
Darnell Wright, OT
Wright has signed on with Tennessee in 2019 and then started at right tackle and right guard. He started at right tackle as a sophomore, but moved to left tackle as a junior in 2021. Wright moved back to right tackle for the 2022 season and was named First Team All-SEC.
At 6-foot-6 and 335 pounds, Wright has great size for an NFL offensive tackle. He has proven to have good power and strength. Wright does have some athletic and flexibility limitations, which holds back his draft stock.
Projected Draft Range: Third Round Pick-Fifth Round Pick
Trevon Flowers, S
Flowers is in his fifth season with Tennessee and has really been an impact player over the last three seasons. He has 227 total tackles, five interceptions and eight passes defended in his career. This season, he has tallied 57 total tackles, two interceptions and one pass defended.
He has ok size for a safety at 5-foot-11 and 200 pounds. Flowers is a decent athlete with solid speed, but can give up big plays because he sees the field wrong. The big plays will worry some NFL minds and limit his draft stock.
Projected Draft Range: Fourth Round Pick-Sixth Round Pick
*WR Jalin Hyatt has opted out of this game. He is a projected first or second-round pick.
*QB Hendon Hooker is injured and will miss this game. He is a projected first or second-round pick.
*WR Cedric Tillman has opted out of this game. He is a projected day-two pick.
Other Draft Prospects: LB Jeremy Banks (5th-7th), EDGE Byron Young (UFA)
Clemson Tigers Draft Prospects
Bryan Bresee, DL
Bresee has been with Clemson for three seasons and has been a star. He has 49 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss and eight sacks in his career. This season, Bresee has registered 13 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks in nine games played.
He has excellent size for an NFL interior defensive lineman at 6-foot-5 and 300 pounds. His athleticism shines through against other interior linemen. He has had a few injuries in his career, but none that should limit his draft stock.
Projected Draft Range: First-Round Pick
Tyler Davis, DL
Davis is in his fourth season with the Tigers and has had some success sprinkled throughout his time there. He has 108 total tackles, 25.5 tackles for loss and 14.5 sacks in his career. This season, he has 28 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.
At 6-foot-2 and 300 pounds, Davis has solid size for an NFL defensive lineman. He has good athleticism and power, which helps him win one on one matchups. One hangup with Davis is the number of injuries he sustained throughout his college career. He was able to come back from them, but it did limit his time on the field in college.
Projected Draft Range: Third Round Pick-Fifth Round Pick
*EDGE Myles Murphy has opted out of this game. He is a projected first-round pick.
*LB Trenton Simpson has opted out of this game. He is a projected first or second-round pick.
Other Draft Prospects: EDGE KJ Henry (4th-6th), EDGE Xavier Thomas (4th-6th), DL Ruke Orhorhoro (4th-6th), OT Jordan McFadden (5th-7th), S Landon Zanders (UFA), CB Sheridan Jones (UFA), K BT Potter (UFA), WR Joseph Ngata (UFA), TE Davis Allen (UFA), OG/C Walker Parks (UFA), OG/C Will Putnam (UFA)
