NFL Draft Prospects in the 2022 Cheez-It Bowl

Publish Date: December 21, 2022

The bowl season gives fans and scouts alike a chance to analyze NFL Draft prospects against solid competition. Bowl scheduling allows all eyes to be on each game. Here are the NFL Draft prospects in the 2022 Cheez-It Bowl.

Oklahoma Sooners Draft Prospects

Marvin Mims, WR

Mims has been at Oklahoma for three seasons and has been productive in each season, but really picked things up this season. He has 121 receptions for 2,321 yards and 20 touchdowns in his career. For the 2022 season, Mims has hauled in 52 passes for 1,006 yards and six touchdowns.

At 5-foot-11 and 177 pounds, Mims will fall below the average for an NFL receiver and may move into the slot for a better fit. He has shown the ability to produce big plays and can stretch a defense vertically. Mims may return to school to try and improve his stock.

Projected Draft Range: Third Round Pick-Fifth Round Pick

Andrew Raym, OG/C

Raym has been with the Sooners for three seasons and has been a key cog on their offensive line for the last two seasons. He was a four-star recruit who played a reserve role in 2020. In 2021, he was named Second Team All-Big 12 for his play. For the 2022 season, Raym again provided some stability in the middle of the offensive line.

At 6-foot-4 and 305 pounds, Raym has decent size for an interior offensive lineman, but could add more strength. His arm length will be noted at the combine. Raym has been better at run blocking than pass blocking, but has been decent at both.

Projected Draft Range: Fourth Round Pick-Sixth Round Pick

*OT Anton Harrison has opted out of this bowl game. He is a projected first to third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

*DL Jalen Redmond has opted out of this bowl game. He is a projected fourth to sixth-round pick.

*OT Wanya Morris has opted out of this bowl game. He is a projected fourth to sixth-round pick.

*RB Eric Gray has opted out of this bowl game. He is a projected fourth to sixth-round pick.

Other Draft Prospects: LB DaShaun White (6th-UFA), QB Dillon Gabriel (UFA), CB DJ Graham (UFA), OG/C McKade Mettauer (UFA), OG/C Chris Murray (UFA)

Florida State Seminoles Draft Prospects

Jared Verse, EDGE

Verse started his career at Albany before transferring to Florida State for this season. He had 74 total tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss and 14.5 sacks at Albany over two seasons. This season for Florida State, Verse has 41 total tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks.

He has decent size at 6-foot-4 and 248 pounds, but could stand to add a few pounds of strength. Verse has shown he can get pressure on opposing quarterbacks with solid athleticism. His jump from the FCS to the FBS level went well and he has really raised his draft stock this year.

Projected Draft Range: Second Round Pick-Fourth Round Pick

Jammie Robinson, S

Robinson played two seasons at South Carolina before moving on to Florida State. He has been productive in all four of his collegiate seasons. In his career, he has 305 total tackles, 15 passes defended and seven interceptions. This season, Robinson has 86 total tackles, four passes defended and one interception.

He stands at 5-foot-11 and 199 pounds, which won’t make him the biggest safety, but is adequate. Robinson has shown he can come up and make tackles, especially this season. He also has solid ball skills, which helps his draft stock.

Projected Draft Range: Second Round Pick-Fourth Round Pick

Other Draft Prospects: S Akeem Dent (2nd-4th), WR Johnny Wilson (4th-6th), RB Treshaun Ward (6-UFA), DL Fabian Lovett (6th-UFA), DL Robert Cooper (6th-UFA), OG/C Maurice Smith (UFA), WR Mycah Pittman (UFA)

How do you leave out the All-American punter for Oklahoma Michael Turk?!
He literally could be taken anywhere from the 5th round on . Just saying, according to the title of your article you should not omit one of Oklahoma’s MVPs last year (LED the Nation in Punting!!!) and this year!! Turk was also voted to punt in the Senior Bowl .
