The bowl season gives fans and scouts alike a chance to analyze NFL Draft prospects against solid competition. Bowl scheduling allows all eyes to be on each game. Here are the NFL Draft prospects in the 2022 Celebration Bowl.
NC Central Eagles Draft Prospects
Davius Richard, QB
Richard has been throwing passes for the Eagles since 2019. He has thrown for over 6,500 yards, 51 touchdowns and 25 interceptions in his career. In the 2022 season, he has passed for 2,473 yards, 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions on 63.1 percent completion. He also has rushed for 691 yards and 13 touchdowns this season.
He has the size to be an NFL quarterback at 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds. His ability to make plays with his arm and legs will make him enticing. It is a long shot that he gets drafted, but Richard should have the chance to work out for NFL teams.
Projected Draft Range: Undrafted Free Agent
Brandon Codrington, CB
Codrington has been playing for NC Central since 2019 and stayed through the COVID year in 2020. He has 20 total tackles and two passes defended this season, but has also made his name as a return specialist. He had a 15 yards per punt return in 2021 and was named an HBCU All-American as a returner.
At 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds, Codrington is smaller for a corner and could be assigned to the slot. His return skills will give him increased value, much like Marcus Jones has done for the New England Patriots this season.
Projected Draft Range: Undrafted Free Agent
Jackson State Tigers Draft Prospects
John Huggins, S
Huggins started his career off at Florida before transferring to Garden City Community College. After a season there, he transferred to Jackson State. He started last season and has been a leader on the defense this season. He has 20 total tackles, one interception and two passes defended this season.
At 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds, Huggins has a nice size and can add to his frame at the next level. He will need to improve his ball production to help his stock, but he has been a very solid player for Jackson State. Huggins is a projected late-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Projected Draft Range: 5th Round Pick-7th Round Pick
Aubrey Miller, LB
Miller went to Missouri to start his career, but transferred into Jackson State before the spring season in 2021. He had 51 total tackles in that season, but increased that number to 109 total tackles in the 2021 fall season. This season, he has 103 total tackles to lead the team.
He stands at 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds, which is decent size for an NFL linebacker. Miller may need to add some bulk to his frame to help him shed blocks and get to the ball carrier, but he has shown great pursuit at the college level. He also should be a late-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Projected Draft Range: 5th Round Pick-7th Round Pick
Other Draft Prospects: WR Malachi Wideman (UFA), CB De’Jahn Warren (UFA), S Shilo Sanders (UFA), CB Isaiah Bolden (UFA)
