Nate Wiggins 2024 NFL Draft Profile

Publish Date: April 22, 2024

The 2024 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Nate Wiggins 2024 NFL Draft Profile.

Nate Wiggins Background

Position: Cornerback

School: Clemson

Size: 6-foot-1, 173 pounds

Class: Junior

2023 stats: 29 total tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 1 sack, 2 interceptions, 6 passes defended, 2 forced fumbles, 1 touchdown

Wiggins had a good career at Clemson, but really stood out during the 2023 season. He is now in the 2024 NFL Draft.

As a four-star recruit in the class of 2021, Wiggins signed with Clemson out of Georgia. Wiggins didn’t play much as a freshman, but stepped into the starting lineup in 2022. He registered 29 total tackles, 13 passes defended and one interception as a sophomore. His play helped Clemson win 11 games. Wiggins made First Team All-ACC for the second consecutive season in 2023 with 29 total tackles, two interceptions and six passes defended. He led the Tigers to nine wins during the 2023 season.

Following the season, Wiggins declared for the 2024 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a first-round pick.

Nate Wiggins Strengths

He is a good athlete in a few different ways. Wiggins has good quickness at the start of a play. He turns that quickness into good long speed. Along the way, he shows off his fluid hips to change directions quickly. He uses these movements skills to mirror wide receivers in man coverage.

Over his career, Wiggins has shown good ball skills. He tracks the ball well and is able to attack the catchpoint. Wiggins could be a tad more aggressive in that regard, but he does a good job of finding the ball and making plays. He can defend passes or intercept them.

Wiggins is good in press-man coverage. He is physical in press coverage and can throw receivers off their routes. With his movement abilities, Wiggins can stay with receivers throughout their routes. Press-man teams will love his ability to stick to receivers.

Nate Wiggins Weaknesses

Wiggins is physical with his coverage when he is in press, but can lose his aggressiveness when he plays off the line of scrimmage. He needs to break on balls faster and squeeze his coverage after the start of the play. This is something that can be fixed in the NFL.

There are times when Wiggins can gamble on making a big play and ends up getting beat. While good plays do come out of hit, teams drafting Wiggins have to coach him to follow his assignment or live with the gambles.

His run support and tackling were not that great at Clemson. He needs to make a better effort to shed blocks quicker. Wiggings can show a better effort to get to ball carriers and can tackle better to be a better team defender.
