Marcus Mbow NFL Draft Profile

Publish Date: March 7, 2025

The 2025 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Marcus Mbow NFL Draft Profile.

Marcus Mbow Background

Position: Interior Offensive Lineman

School: Purdue

Size: 6-foot-4, 303 pounds

Class: Redshirt Junior

2024 stats: All-Big Ten Honorable Mention

Mbow was a three-star recruit in the class of 2021, who signed with Purdue out of Wisconsin. He appeared in four games and redshirted in 2021. Mbow jumped into the starting lineup at right guard in 2022, helping the team win eight games. He started in six games before missing the rest with an injury in 2023. Mbow made the move to right tackle in 2024 and was a bright spot for a team that won just one game. He was named All-Big Ten Honorable Mention for his play in 2024.

Following the season, Mbow declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a day-two pick.

Marcus Mbow Strengths

Mbow is an exceptional athlete for the position, as he moves better than most in the class. He can get to the second level in a hurry on run plays after getting a good jump at the snap of the ball. Mbow has great lateral agility and can block well in space. He can block well when pulling or when being used on screens. His mobility is also an asset as a pass blocker.

He is good in pass protection because of his ability to mirror athletic pass rushers. Mbow can stay in front and won’t give up the edge. When defenders make a move toward the inside, he shows good recovery quickness. He has solid flexibility to match up with defenders trying to bend around the edge.

His ability to move can make him a good run blocker. He can execute his assignments decently, without moving defenders, when blocking linemen. His true usefulness comes when he can get to the second level. He has the speed to work quickly and block players in space well, helping free running backs for big plays.

Marcus Mbow Weaknesses

Mbow isn’t the biggest offensive linemen, as he stands at 6-foot-4 and 303 pounds. His size doesn’t give him a lot of strength to work with, which impacts him in different ways. He has just 32-inch arms as well, making it hard for him to match up with lengthy defensive linemen. With his lack of great measurables, Mbow will need to rely on technique and athleticism to help him win.

He does not have a great anchor for the position, whether he is playing tackle or guard. Mbow can be vulnerable to getting beaten by power rushers or ones that can convert speed to power. He will need to add strength to his game to help him anchor better, especially with a move to the interior likely being in his future.

His hand placement and timing can improve to help him with his technique. Mbow can activate his hands earlier to try and control his matchup better. His hand placement can be too wide, which draws penalties. He needs to keep his hands inside to give him the edge without drawing penalties.

Projected Draft Range: Second Round Pick-Third Round Pick

Draft Grade: Second Round Pick
