The 2026 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Mansoor Delane NFL Draft Profile.
Position: Cornerback
School: LSU
Size: 6-foot, 190 Pounds
Class: Senior
2025 stats: 45 total tackles, 2 interceptions, 11 passes defended
Delane was a three-star recruit in the class of 2022 who signed with Virginia Tech out of Maryland. He played early for the Hokies, registering 38 total tackles, one interception and eight passes defended as a freshman. He built on that as a sophomore with 54 tackles, one interception and one pass defended. His junior season was fine statistically for Virginia Tech, as he had 54 total tackles, four interceptions and seven passes defended, but had some issues as well. Following the season he transferred to LSU. While LSU struggled in 2025, Delane shined with 45 total tackles, two interceptions and 11 passes defended.
After the season, Delane entered the 2026 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a first-round pick.
His coverage skills are quality in both man and zone. Delane has great man coverage skills. He didn’t allow many catches when he was in man coverage. Delane can press and is aggressive to get his hands on receivers early. He then transitions well with smooth hips and can mirror the receiver’s movements well. Delane has good route recognition, and that awareness helps him to know how the receiver will attack him. His zone coverage is decent, as he uses his eyes well, especially in shallow zones. He is a better man cover talent, but his zone is solid as well.
Delane has great ball skills for an NFL cornerback. He is able to turn and find the ball well. Delane tracks it, then high points the football. He can attack the catchpoint with that aggressiveness to either come down with an interception or a pass defended. Deep throws can sometimes be tricky for him, but for the most part, Delane is such a tough matchup because of his ability to play the ball.
He plays cornerback with an aggressive demeanor that defensive coordinators will love. Delane doesn’t give up many catches, but when he does, he is a sure tackler to limit the receiver’s ability to run after the catch. He is willing to help stop the run and his solid tackling helps there as well. Delane isn’t the biggest corner, but he will fight with bigger receivers and wins so many of those matchups.
Delane has solid play speed, but it likely falls short of elite. His 40-yard dash time will be watched closely at the NFL Combine. He won’t have to run fast, but avoiding a slower time (above 4.55) will really help his draft stock. It looks like his play speed is solid enough to warrant a high pick, but some teams may be scared off by a slow time.
There are times when Delane falls for double moves. His aggressiveness does come back to bite him in this area, as he is so committed to making plays that he can give up catches deeper after double moves. When he is in zone coverage, he can also pick up covering the one receiver who isn’t targeted while another receiver is targeted. Flooding his zone didn’t happen often, but he’ll have to be more disciplined when it does happen.
He may draw more flags at the NFL level than he did in college. Delane is physical in his coverage and that is a good thing, but at times he can get to handsy and could pick up flags. He will have to trust his technique while remaining physical to a point in order to avoid flags.
Projected Draft Range: First Round Pick
Draft Grade: First Round Pick
