Shenault has gone from an average wide receiver prospect to a star for Colorado in a very short amount of time. He did a little bit of everything for Colorado this season, but the team was unable to get to six wins and to a bowl game. The junior is now getting ready for the 2020 NFL Draft.

In his freshman season, he saw the field in all 12 regular-season games and had 168 receiving yards. As a sophomore in 2018, Shenault had a breakout season. He finished the year with 86 receptions for 1,011 yards and six touchdowns. Shenault also had 115 rushing yards and five touchdowns. In 12 games as a junior, Shenault had 925 scrimmage yards and six touchdowns, but his team failed to make a bowl game for a third consecutive year.

As an all-purpose player, Shenault was able to show off his talents in a variety of different ways. With all of his tape already in the books, NFL General Managers will be considering taking him early in the draft this year.

Strengths

Shenault is a very versatile player, who was able to do a lot for Colorado. He was a great receiver who played on the outside and in the slot. When he wasn’t playing receiver, he lined up as a wildcat quarterback and a running back. On special teams, he was occasionally used as a returner. NFL teams will love to use him in a variety of ways at the next level.

His athletic ability is great and helps him win in one on one matchups. Shenault can make contested catches and beat defenders deep because of his athleticism. He will be able to do the same in the NFL, especially when healthy.

He is great at running after the catch, which is why Colorado used him in so many different ways. Once he has the ball in his hands, he uses his shiftyness and strong build to pick up yards. The Buffaloes used Shenault on a lot of screen passes just so he could make defenders miss and pick up yards.

Weaknesses

Shenault needs to improve his route-running to really be an impressive receiver. He can do better with his releases off the line of scrimmage and running crisper routes to get open. Because he was used in a variety of ways, he wasn’t able to show a full route tree, which he’ll need to do at the next level.

While motor is a term usually reserved for linemen, Shenault’s motor runs hot and cold. He has the frame for blocking, but doesn’t always finish the play. There are also instances where he will give up on routes before they are completed.

At Colorado, Shenault dealt with a few different injuries. He only played nine games as a sophomore and 11 as a junior. He suffered a toe injury in his sophomore season and tore his labrum this past season. He’ll need to prove he can stay on the field in the NFL.
