The 2025 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Josh Conerly Jr. NFL Draft Profile.
Position: Offensive Tackle
School: Oregon
Size: 6-foot-4, 315 pounds
Class: Junior
2024 stats: All-Big Ten First Team
Conerly was a five-star recruit in the class of 2022, who decided to stay in the Northwest and play for Oregon. He played as a freshman, but didn’t start. Conerly jumped into the starting lineup in 2023 at left tackle. He helped the Ducks win 12 games that season. In 2024, he returned at left tackle, leading the Ducks to 13 wins and an appearance in the College Football Playoff. He was named All-Big Ten First team for his play.
Following the season, Conerly declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a day two pick.
Conerly is a good athlete for the offensive tackle position. He moves well at the start of plays, showing off good acceleration. Conerly can get to the second level of a defense and execute blocks. He can also be used on the outside on screens or pulls. His mobility helps him in pass protection as well, as he can stay in front of pass rushers.
He is good in pass protection, with experience blocking for a quarterback’s blindside and frontside at left tackle for Oregon. Conerly mirrors pass rushers well, making him hard to get around. He also doesn’t allow pass rushers to bend around the edge. Conerly has a solid anchor to stop power rushers, but that can be improved.
His awareness and feel for the position is also good. He knows his responsibilities and handles them well. Conerly can see blitzes and twists as they happen and reacts accordingly. He can pass off rushers to the inside and pick up who is pressuring on the outside. His awareness will give him the chance to see the field early in his career.
Conerly needs to add more strength to his game and fill out his frame. He is 6-foot-4 and 315 pounds, but looks like he can carry some more weight. With his added weight, he could move players better in the run game and also sustain blocks longer. In pass protection, he could have better anchor strength.
He needs to work on his hand timing and placement to be more effective at the next level. Conerly needs to have quicker hands to prevent defenders from getting their hands on him first. He can place his hands more on the inside to help limit the amount defenders can disengage from his blocks.
There is a tendency for him to overset when pass blocking. He overcompensates for hopes of not giving up pressure on the edge, which gives up a lot of space to the inside. Conerly can be beat on the inside by counters because he is leaning too far outside, which makes him vulnerable.
Projected Draft Range: Second Round Pick-Third Round Pick
Draft Grade: Second Round Pick
