Stewart was a three-star recruit who signed with Coastal Carolina out of Massachusetts in the class of 2021. He immediately had an impact for the Chanticleers, registering 43 total tackles, 16 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks. Stewart helped the team win 11 games that season. In 2022, Stewart racked up 36 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. Coastal Carolina won nine games that season. For the 2023 season, he transferred to Michigan. He totaled 38 tackles, nine tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks in his first season with Michigan. Stewart aided the team in winning a national championship that season. For the 2024 season, he had 33 total tackles, 13 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks. He led the team to eight wins on the season.
Following the season, Stewart has been preparing for the 2025 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a mid-round pick.
Stewart has tremendous first-step quickness at the snap off the ball. He times the snap well, but then shows off his acceleration at the start of the play. His quick first step puts offensive linemen in recovery mode quickly. He is able to turn his quickness into good speed on the edge. That burst at the start of the play is unique.
He is a great athlete for the edge rusher position. His quickness has already been mentioned and he can convert that into speed. Stewart can also convert his speed into power. He moves well laterally showcasing his agility. Stewart has nice flexibility as well, which helps him bend around the edge.
His motor is among the best in the class. Stewart gets a lot of his production based on his secondary effort. What he lacks in size he makes up in effort, as he attacks blocks in the run game as well. Stewart also shows good pursuit down the field. He will play hard when he is on the field.
Stewart is undersized for an NFL edge rusher, standing at 6-foot-1 and 249 pounds. This makes him one of the smallest edge rushers in the class and puts him at a severe size mismatch against offensive linemen. He also has limited length with arms that measure in at under 32 inches.
He tries hard in his run defense, but struggles to make a huge impact in that area. Stewart can struggle to deconstruct and shed blocks so that he can go pursue the ball. He also doesn’t anchor well. While he shows good pursuit, he often times can’t get to the point where he gets off his block and pursues the ball carrier.
The number of pass rush moves in his game can increase to make him a more impactful rusher. He needs a pass rush plan heading into each play and can diversify that if he has more moves. Stewart can also show more counter moves to help him if his initial rush is stopped.
Projected Draft Range: Third Round Pick-Fifth Round Pick
Draft Grade: Fourth Round Pick
