Jeremy Ruckert 2022 NFL Draft Profile

Publish Date: April 26, 2022

The 2022 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Jeremy Ruckert 2022 NFL Draft Profile.

Jeremy Ruckert Background

Position: Tight End

Size: 6-foot-5, 250 pounds

Class: Senior

2021 stats: 26 receptions, 309 receiving yards, 11.9 yards per catch, 3 touchdown receptions

Ruckert had some highlights for Ohio State over the last few seasons. Now he is headed to the 2022 NFL Draft.

The tight end left the state of New York to sign with Ohio State as a four-star prospect. He had one catch for 13 yards as a freshman. After seeing the field more as a sophomore, he had 14 catches for 142 yards and four touchdowns. Ohio State went 13-1 that season and made the College Football Playoff. In 2020, Ruckert had 13 receptions for 151 yards and five touchdowns. The Buckeyes made the National Championship Game, but lost to Alabama. Ruckert had his best season in 2021, finishing the year off with 26 receptions for 309 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Ohio State won 11 games including the Rose Bowl to cap off the season.

Following the season, Ruckert declared for the 2022 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a mid-round pick.

Jeremy Ruckert Strengths

Ruckert has a solid build for a tight end. He stands at 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds. Although he may need to add some weight to his frame, Ruckert looks like he could fill it out. His size will fit right in at the NFL level, especially if he hits the weight room early in his career.

He is a solid athlete, especially for his size. Ruckert has solid speed, which really helps him create mismatches. In addition to his speed, he has nice body control which can help him haul in some acrobatic catches. He also has solid quickness and agility.

His effort as a blocker should enable him to really improve in the NFL. He is constantly looking for work as a blocker. Ruckert can block on the line and can do a pretty good job at blocking in space as well. With more strength and better technique, Ruckert could be a good blocker at the pro level.

Jeremy Ruckert Weaknesses

As mentioned, Ruckert could add a little more muscle to his frame. This would help him sustain blocks for longer periods of time and also play through contact as a receiver. He has a good start for an NFL body, but can still improve.

Ruckert can improve his route-running. He can sometimes struggle to separate and needs to run crisper routes in order to create that space. If he can work on this aspect of his game and his releases at the line of scrimmage, he could be a real threat as a pass-catcher.

He won’t make too many defenders miss after the catch. Ruckert is more of a linear athlete and doesn’t have the wiggle to be very elusive. He can still be a great tight end and be a red zone target, but expecting much after the catch would be a mistake.

Projected Draft Range: Third Round Pick-Fifth Round Pick
