Jayden Higgins NFL Draft Profile

Publish Date: April 18, 2025

The 2025 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Jayden Higgins NFL Draft Profile.

Jayden Higgins Background

Position: Wide Receiver

School: Iowa State

Size: 6-foot-4, 214 pounds

Class: Senior

2024 stats: 87 catches, 1,183 receiving yards, 9 touchdown catches, 13.6 yards per reception

Higgins was a two-star prospect in the class of 2021, who signed with Eastern Kentucky out of Florida. He played two seasons for the Colonels, registering 87 catches for 1,151 yards and 13 touchdowns. For the 2023 season, Higgins transferred to Iowa State. He caught 53 passes for 983 yards and six touchdowns in 2023. He helped the Cyclones win seven games that season. In 2024, he hauled in 87 passes for 1,183 yards and nine touchdowns. Higgins led Iowa State to 11 wins during the 2024 season.

Following the season, Higgins has been preparing for the 2025 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a day two pick.

Jayden Higgins Strengths

Higgins has great size for a wide receiver at the NFL level. He stands at 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, which makes him one of the bigger wide receivers in the class. Higgins has a huge catch radius and is a mismatch for a lot of the corners he faces. He has solid play strength and could even add to it at the next level.

His speed for his size is great. Higgins ran a 4.47 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine. While he may not be the fastest receiver in the class, on the field, his combination of size and speed makes him a tough matchup. He is a bit of a linear athlete, but he can stretch the field vertically at times.

He has great ball skills and hands. Higgins can track the ball well in the air and uses his body well to help shield the ball from defenders. He can make contested catches and haul in passes that come in off frame. Higgins is a reliable target who the quarterback can rely on to come down with the ball.

Jayden Higgins Weaknesses

Higgins isn’t the best route-runner. He struggles to get in and out of his breaks quickly and he may have trouble separating at the next level. He is a bigger wide receiver, so it makes it hard for him to change directions. On top of that, he has a limited route tree that will be hard to expand in the NFL.

He won’t offer much ability after the catch. Higgins is a reliable target, but won’t pick up yards after the catch. He isn’t elusive with the ball in his hands and defenders are able to catch up to him to bring him down. Quarterbacks will need to throw to him knowing that there won’t be a lot of yardage after he catches it.

His run blocking was ok, but could be so much better for how big he is. Higgins could have better technique and effort in his blocking to help his team spring bigger runs. Higgins has the potential to be a great blocker at the wide receiver position and could even be used near the line of scrimmage with more work.

Projected Draft Range: Second Round Pick-Third Round Pick

Draft Grade: Third Round Pick
