The 2023 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Jammie Robinson 2023 NFL Draft Profile.
Position: Safety
School: Florida State
Size: 5-foot-11, 191 pounds
Class: Senior
2022 Stats: 99 total tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 1 interception, 5 passes defended, 1 fumble recovery
Robinson spent time in both the SEC and ACC over the course of his college career. He is now in the 2023 NFL Draft.
As a four-star recruit out of Georgia, Robinson signed with Florida State in the class of 2019. He was able to play as a true freshman, registering 62 total tackles, one interception and four passes defended. South Carolina struggled, going 4-8. He was a full-time starter in 2020 with 73 total tackles, one interceptions and four passes defended. Unfortunately, the Gamecocks struggled and finished the season 2-8. Following the season, he transferred to Florida State. In 2021, he tallied 84 total tackles, four interceptions and three passes defended for the Seminoles. Florida State went 5-7 in his first season on campus. The following season, Robinson had 99 total tackles, one interception and five passes defended. He led the Seminoles to a 10-3 record.
Following the Cheez-It Bowl, Robinson declared for the 2023 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a mid-round pick.
Robinson has plenty of versatility to offer an NFL defense. He is able to play safety and patrol the deep parts of the field in zone and man coverage. Robinson has also been used as a nickel corner and can cover players in the slot. He excels at both and defenses can move him around based on their needs or their gameplan.
He is solid in run support because of his aggressiveness and willingness to play downhill. Robinson reads plays well and flows to the football. Once he sees where the ball is going he shows good pursuit and is able to take the ball carrier down. He can even shed blocks at a decent rate.
His ability to play with anticipation is great. He reads the quarterback’s eyes well and then breaks on the football. Robinson is able to recognize routes well, which also helps him play with anticipation. He knows his role and fulfills it on most plays.
Robinson isn’t that undersized, but he might have trouble matching up with tight ends. He is short and has limited arm length, which makes it hard to attack the catch point of tight ends. His athleticism and aggressive mentality give him a chance, but he could be mismatched against an NFL tight end.
He has just average speed and range for a safety, especially at his size. Robinson mirrors well, but can struggle to to match receivers vertically in man coverage. His range as a deep zone corner is also average, so his anticipatory playstyle is very important.
While he has ok ball skills, his ball production is lacking. After playing a ton over his four seasons, Robinson had just seven interceptions and 16 passes defended in his college career. His anticipation helps him make plays on the ball, but his limited length, speed and ball-tracking can make things hard for him.
Projected Draft Range: Third Round Pick-Fourth Round Pick
Draft Grade: Third-Round Pick
