The 2022 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Jamaree Salyer 2022 NFL Draft Profile.
Jamaree Salyer Background
Position: Offensive Guard/Center
Size: 6-foot-4, 321 pounds
Class: Senior
2021 stats: Second Team All-SEC
Salyer had a great college career that he capped off with a National Championship. He is now entering the 2022 NFL Draft.
As a five-star prospect, Salyer stayed in his home state to play for the Bulldogs. He played sparingly as a freshman before getting a few starts as a sophomore. In 2020, he started at left tackle for the regular season and played left guard in the Peach Bowl. He missed some time with injury, but started at left tackle in 2021 and was named to the All-SEC Second Team. His play helped Georgia win the National Championship.
Following a great ending to his college career, Salyer is headed to the NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a mid-round pick.
Jamaree Salyer Strengths
Salyer is one of the bigger guards in the class. He is 6-foot-3, which is average, but weighs 321 pounds. With that, he has plenty of strength and power to play with. His arms are 33 and 5/8 inches long, which is also solid and helps him win some of his matchups.
His versatility also makes him an intriguing draft prospect. He has played all five positions on the offensive line and fared well as a left tackle in the SEC. While a move to the inside is likely for Salyer, teams will like that he can play tackle in a pinch. His experience at multiple positions makes him an eligible prospect for plenty of teams.
He has proven to be a solid pass blocker whether he is playing tackle or guard. Salyer can lose some matchups against athletic edge rushers, but handles power very well, which will help him on the inside. He did not allow a sack to Michigan’s talented pass rushers and has held up against good SEC competition.
Jamaree Salyer Weaknesses
Salyer loses leverage a lot. He needs to keep his pad level low in order to keep his power. With more effort to maintain his leverage, Salyer can control his matchups and sustain blocks for longer. Some of this loss of leverage is because of his frame, but he can work on maintaining leverage.
He is a better pass blocker than run blocker right now. Salyer doesn’t pull well or get to the second level. He needs to work at blocking on the move better. His move to the inside could help because he is better in a phone booth than in space.
As mentioned, athletic and flexible edge rushers give him problems. He struggles to mirror these players because his feet aren’t the quickest. Salyer also has some missteps when pass blocking and needs to fine-tune his footwork to improve.
