Jalin Hyatt 2023 NFL Draft Profile

Publish Date: April 24, 2023

The 2023 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Jalin Hyatt 2023 NFL Draft Profile.

Jordan Addison Background

Position: Wide Receiver

School: Tennessee

Size: 6-foot, 185 Pounds

Class: Junior

2022 stats: 67 receptions, 1,267 receiving yards, 16.4 yards per catch, 15 touchdowns

Hyatt had a quiet career up until the 2022 season, but really popped off and improved his stock. Now, he is in the 2023 NFL Draft.

As a four-star recruit, Hyatt decided to leave the state of South Carolina to play for Tennessee. He produced a little bit as a freshman with 20 receptions for 276 yards and two touchdowns. His play was similar in 2021, as he registered 21 catches for 226 yards and two touchdowns. The 2022 season allowed Hyatt to showcase his talent more, as he had 67 receptions for 1,267 yards and 15 touchdowns. His play helped Tennessee make the Orange Bowl and win 11 games.

Following the season, Hyatt declared for the 2023 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a first round pick.

Jalin Hyatt Strengths

Hyatt’s speed will jump out at evaluators. He has good acceleration to start plays and is up to top speed quickly. Hyatt can get behind defenders and then continues speeding down the field. He also shows off his speed when he runs after the catch. His testing numbers will be important, but on tape there aren’t many defensive backs who can match Hyatt’s speed.

His speed allows him to be a big-play threat. Hyatt had 15 touchdowns and averaged 16.4 yards per catch during the 2022 season. He was routinely able to get behind the defense and be wide open for his quarterback to find him. The threat of the big play makes opposing defenses keep players out of the box and can open up the running game for a team.

He can run after the catch in large part because of his speed. Hyatt doesn’t show much wiggle, but he can catch slant routes or screens and then pick up yardage that others can’t because he is able to accelerate to his top speed so quickly.

Jalin Hyatt Weaknesses

Hyatt is an undersized wide receiver, as he measures at 6-foot and 185 pounds. He needs to add play strength in order to handle physical coverage. When he is pressed, he can struggle to fight through it and create separation. Adding strength to his speed could make him a much more well-rounded player.

While he can get behind the defense, his route-running needs some work. He doesn’t get in and out of his breaks well and needs to sell his routes better. His limited route-tree will also be noted, as he can run go routes or slants, but doesn’t create separation on many other routes.

His hands are normally fine, but he does struggle to haul in contested catches. Adding strength could help him battle for the ball, as he does show good ball tracking. His quarterback in the NFL can hit him deep, but it is not advisable to throw him a ball with a defender covering him closely.

Projected Draft Range: First Round Pick-Second Round Pick

Draft Grade: Second-Round Pick
