To’o To’o spent time at both Tennessee and Alabama during his college career. He is now in the 2023 NFL Draft.
As a four-star recruit out of California, To’o To’o signed on with Tennessee. He started for two seasons at Tennessee, racking up SEC All-Freshman honors while he was there. Following the 2020 season, he decided to transfer to Alabama. He had 111 total tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and four sacks in his first season for the Crimson Tide. His play helped the team make the National Championship Game before they fell to Georgia. To’o To’o could’ve turned pro, but returned to Alabama for the 2022 season with 94 total tackles, eight tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. The Crimson Tide won the Sugar Bowl following the 2022 season.
After playing in the Sugar Bowl, To’o To’o entered into the 2023 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a mid-round pick.
To’o To’o has great awareness for the position. He knows his assignment and plays under control to execute his role. To’o To’o also knows how offenses will attack him. He reads where run plays are going and is able to fill in the gap to make the play. To’o To’o is dependable in taking care of his job on most plays.
His ability to stop inside runs is great. As mentioned, To’o To’o can read where run plays are going very well. He then can get through traffic well and uses his instincts to read where a play is going. To’o To’o fills the hole and is capable of making tackles.
His athleticism is solid for the position. To’o To’o won’t wow anyone with his athleticism, but he has decent speed. He is also flexible and can change directions decently well. His awareness and average athleticism could help make him a solid player.
While his athleticism is solid, his range is limited. He has decent speed, but can have trouble covering faster players. Against the run, he sometimes struggles to get from his spot all the way to the sideline on the outside. His range also limits his ability in coverage, as players can create separation against him.
To’o To’o will want to add strength to his frame. He is a little below the average size for an NFL linebacker at 6-foot-2 and 225. To’o To’o can struggle to disengage from blocks and lacks contact balance when engaged. He can add strength to be better against the run specifically.
His finishing can be better as a tackler. There are times when To’o To’o can have a player within his grasp, but he can still struggle to make the play. Added strength can help him bring these ball carriers to the ground, but the lack of finishing doesn’t always come as a result of lack of strength. He needs to be the aggressor when hitting opponents and make sure he wraps up every time.
