The 2024 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Graham Barton 2024 NFL Draft Profile.
Graham Barton Background
Position: Interior Offensive Line
School:Â Duke
Size:Â 6-foot-5, 314 pounds
Class:Â Senior
2023 stats:Â All-ACC First Team
Barton has helped the Duke Blue Devils in many ways over his four-year career. Now he is in the 2024 NFL Draft.
As a three-star recruit in the class of 2020, Barton signed with Duke out of Tennessee. He saw the field and was named a Second Team Freshman All-American. Despite finding a diamond in the rough, Duke won just two games that season. In 2021, Barton started all 12 games at left tackle. Even though he played decently, Duke won just three games. For his junior season in 2022, he was a First Team All-ACC selection for his play at left tackle, as the Blue Devils improved to a nine-win season. In 2023, he was again named a First Team All-ACC player. Duke had another solid season with eight wins.
Following the 2023 season, Barton declared for the 2024 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a first or second-round pick.
Graham Barton Strengths
Barton has solid athletic ability for a guard, especially knowing he held up well at tackle. He has good quickness at the snap and can get to the second level as a run blocker. Barton has good flexibility as well. With his ability to bend and move, Barton can hold up well on an NFL offensive line.
His run blocking pops on tape. He gets a quick start to his rep and can drive defenders backward. Barton also uses his solid mobility to get to the second level. He is a good puller and is successful blocking in open space for screens. Barton can be an impact run blocker right away at whatever position he plays.
To start his career, Barton played center for Duke. He then was successful at left tackle the rest of his career. There is a good probability he can play guard as well. This versatility could make him a fit for a lot of teams. A team could try him at tackle and if it doesn’t work out, they could move him to guard or center.
Graham Barton Weaknesses
Barton can add some strength to play on the interior more successfully. He is just 314 pounds and can use the extra weight to help deal with strong interior defensive linemen. Along with the strength, Barton has just average length. That is partially why a move to the inside could help him at the next level.
There were times when Barton struggled on an island in pass protection. He can mirror pass rushers mostly, but could be beaten to the inside at times. A move to the inside could really improve his pass protection and make this a strength.
His hand usage could use some work, especially given his average length. His hands can often be late and too wide. Getting his hands on defenders early in the rep without lunging can be how he becomes more consistent. The placement will help make sure he can sustain his blocks.
