Anudike-Uzomah had two great seasons for Kansas State and developed well. Now he is in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Out of high school, Anudike-Uzomah was a three-star prospect who signed with Kansas State. He had one sack in limited time as a freshman. Anudike-Uzomah saw his role increase in 2021, tallying 14.5 tackles for loss and 11 sacks along the way. He helped the Wildcats reach an 8-5 record. For the 2022 season, Anudike-Uzomah had 11 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks. He led Kansas State to a 10-4 record and a Sugar Bowl appearance.
After playing in the Sugar Bowl, Anudike-Uzomah declared for the 2023 NFL Draft. He is a projected second or third-round pick.
Anudike-Uzomah has decent size for an edge rusher. He stands 6-foot-3 and 255 pounds, which helps to give him good play strength for the position. He demonstrates good power from the start of his reps to the end. With his size and length, Anudike-Uzomah also has solid arm length of 33 and 1/2 inches, which helps him shed blocks.
His pass-rushing is the main thing people will notice watching Anudike-Uzomah. He has a plan for how to attack offensive tackles. Anudike-Uzomah has a few moves including a good bull rush due to his strength, in his arsenal. He has a few counters moves, but can add some more. He was able to add more to his pass-rushing game each season at Kansas State and there is some hope he can continue to do so in the NFL.
He has a good motor that he always keeps running which really helps his game. As a pass rusher, a lot of Anudike-Uzomah’s production can come because of his second effort. When his initial rush is stopped he keeps making his way to the quarterback. He shows good pursuit against the run, even when the ball carrier is downfield.
Anudike-Uzomah had plenty of pass rushing production during his college career, a lot of it is streaky. When he is playing well, he can have big days, but there are also weeks that go by without sacks. He had a game with four sacks in 2021, while he only registered one sack in his last six games at Kansas State. Anudike-Uzomah will need to work on being more consistent.
His run defense could also use some work. He needs to find a way to shed blocks quicker in order to make more of an impact. Anudike-Uzomah sometimes loses gap integrity as well. He could also find the ball faster. While his pursuit is good, the other facets of his game need work for him to be a more complete player.
He is not the most flexible edge rusher in this class. Anudike-Uzomah can sometimes fail to bend around the edge. He is more of an upright athlete and has some tightness that has him relying on his quickness and power to win.
