Emeka Egbuka NFL Draft Profile

Publish Date: February 12, 2025

The 2025 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Emeka Egbuka NFL Draft Profile.

Emeka Egbuka Background

Position: Wide Receiver

School: Ohio State

Size: 6-foot-1, 205 pounds

Class: Junior

2024 stats: 81 receptions, 1,011 receiving yards, 10 touchdown catches, 12.5 yards per catch, 8 rushes, 33 rushing yards

Egbuka was a five-star recruit in the class of 2021, who signed with Ohio State out of Washington. He played sparingly as a freshman, registering nine receptions for 191 yards. His role increased in 2022, as he tallied 74 catches for 1,151 yards and 10 touchdowns. His play helped the Buckeyes make the four-team College Football Playoff that season. In 2023, Egbuka battled injuries, but hauled in 41 passes for 515 yards and four touchdowns. Ohio State won 11 games that season. Egbuka decided to return for the 2024 season, registering 81 receptions for 1,011 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. He led the team to a national championship to cap off his college career.

Following the National Championship Game, Egbuka has been preparing for the 2025 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a first-round pick.

Emeka Egbuka Strengths

Egbuka is a solid route-runner, who ran a variety of different routes at Ohio State. He has nice releases at the line of scrimmage to free himself from coverage early on in plays. Egbuka can get out of his breaks decently quickly and can change speeds well. He also has the ability to find the soft spot against zone coverage.

He has the ability to turn routine plays into big ones, as he is great after the catch. Egbuka has good vision in the open field and runs to open space to maximize the yardage he can gain on a given play. He has solid athleticism and runs hard with the ball in his hands, making him tough to tackle. Egbuka is decently elusive and has solid speed to pick up yards after the catch.

His toughness is among the best in the class for a wide receiver. Egbuka isn’t afraid to go over the middle when asked. He also puts his body on the line to block for his teammates, and does so with good form. He won’t shy away from playing physical football, which is refreshing for the wide receiver position.

Emeka Egbuka Weaknesses

Egbuka has been effective when healthy, but has struggled with injuries throughout his college career. He has a knee and ankle injury. NFL teams will want to make sure he is durable enough for the league. They will also want to check out his injuries to make sure there aren’t any lingering effects of the existing injuries.

He is a solid athlete, but he will likely test short of the elite marks. Egbuka has solid speed, but won’t be one of the faster receivers in the class. His acceleration and agility also will fall short of the elite marks. He has great body control and knows how to get open, but the athletic testing numbers could scare teams away from picking him too early.

His specialty is short and intermediate routes. Egbuka won’t often stretch defenses vertically and isn’t a great deep threat. He can still be a very effective receiver at the next level, but NFL offensive coordinators will need to know how to use him to make their offense better.
