The 2025 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Donovan Ezeiruaku NFL Draft Profile.
Position: Edge Rusher
School: Boston College
Size: 6-foot-2 and 1/2, 248 pounds
Class: Senior
2024 stats: 80 total tackles, 21 tackles for loss, 16.5 sacks, 1 pass defended, 3 forced fumbles
Ezeiruaku was a three-star recruit in the class of 2021 who signed with Boston College out of New Jersey. He played a little bit as a freshman, registering 21 total tackles, four tackles for loss and three sacks. Ezeiruaku had a big jump in production in 2022, as he tallied 61 total tackles, 15 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks. He played well, but the Eagles won just three games. In 2023, he racked up 53 total tackles, seven tackles for loss and two sacks. He led the Eagles to a seven-win season. For the 2024 season, he had 80 total tackles, 21 tackles for loss and 16.5 sacks. Ezeiruaku helped Boston College win seven games again in 2024.
Following the season, Ezeiruaku declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a first or second-round pick.
Ezeiruaku is a natural pass rusher, who had plenty of production during his college career, specifically this past season. While his pass rush plan can improve, Ezeirauku has a wide variety of pass rush moves and counters to utilize and get after the quarterback. He also has solid athleticism and flexibility to bend around the edge when needed.
His athleticism is great for an edge rusher. He gets a good jump at the snap of the ball, showing off his timing and acceleration. Ezeiruaku can convert that acceleration to speed, as well, which can send offensive tackles scrambling. He also moves well laterally and has flexibility, helping him play well in space.
While he isn’t the biggest player, Ezeiruaku has nice length and uses it, along with his hands very well. He can long-arm offensive tackles, but can also use his length to help him shed quicker. Along with his length, he shows heavy hands with good placement and timing, which also helps him.
His length is good for his size, but his size isn’t up to NFL averages. He stands at just over 6-foot-2 and 248 pounds, which will put him at a severe disadvantage going up against bigger tackles. He lacks play strength of other NFL Draft prospects at the position and doesn’t have too much more room to fill out his frame. In college, he could be overwhelmed by bigger offensive linemen.
He is a good pass rushers, but his run defense leaves a lot to be desired. Ezeiruaku doesn’t always shed quickly. He can make plays on the ball with good pursuit, but leaves some on the table with his slow shed time. Ezeiruaku also has trouble setting the edge and keeping run plays contained.
Ezeiruaku won’t offer much as a power rusher. He doesn’t have the strength to pull off an effective bull rush a lot of times. As a pass rusher, he also struggles to convert speed to power well. Ezeiruaku will win at the next level because of his athleticism, flexibility and pass rush moves, but likely won’t win because of power.
Projected Draft Range: First Round Pick-Second Round Pick
Draft Grade: Second Round Pick
