The 2025 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Darius Alexander NFL Draft Profile.
Position: Defensive Tackle
School: Toledo
Size: 6-foot-4, 305 pounds
Class: Senior
2024 stats: 40 total tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, 4 passes defended, 1 interception, 1 touchdown
Alexander was a two-star recruit in the class of 2019 who signed with Toledo out of Indiana. He redshirted in his first year, then played a little bit in 2020. For the 2021 season, he registered 21 total tackles and one tackle for loss. He started just once in 2022, but still piled up 21 tackles, seven tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Alexander was more of a full-time starter in 2023, making Third Team All-MAC with 36 total tackles, six tackles for loss and four sacks. He helped the Rockets win 11 games that season. For the 2024 season, he had 40 total tackles, eight tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. Alexander led the team to an eight-win season.
Following the season, Alexander has been preparing for the 2025 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a day-two pick.
Alexander has good size for the interior defensive line position. He stands at 6-foot-4 and 305 pounds, which will make him fit right in at the NFL level. His size gives him great strength and power, which helps to make him disruptive. He also has 34-inch arms to put him at a good frame for the position overall. Alexander uses his length to help him shed blocks well.
For an interior defensive lineman, Alexander has some solid pass-rushing abilities. He can win with his athleticism, as he moves well for his size, even laterally. Alexander also has a decent number of pass rush moves and counters. To make things more impressive, he goes into each play with a plan and knows when to utilize his moves/counters.
He has the ability to play multiple spots on the defensive line at the pro level. Alexander can line up at nose tackle if needed. He can play 3-4 defensive end or 4-3 defensive tackle. Alexander is a fit for plenty of schemes at the next level and defensive coordinators may love to move him around a bit.
Alexander is an older prospects in the class after starting his college journey in 2019. He only has two great years of production, showing growth late in his college career. To go along with that, he didn’t play the best competition at Toledo, so it is hard to get a gauge on how successful he can be as a pro.
The biggest thing that makes him hard to figure out is his inconsistency. There are some games he looks like a pro and others where he has struggles. The way Alexander can improve his consistency is to keep his pad level down. When he does, his power is retained and he is able to do so much more asked of him.
He can get preoccupied with the man blocking him instead of reading the play and seeing where the ball is going. Alexander played well in college, but could have had more of an impact had he found the football sooner. There is plenty of room for improvement when he gets to the next level because of this.
