The 2025 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Danny Stutsman NFL Draft Profile.
Position: Linebacker
School: Oklahoma
Size: 6-foot-3, 233 pounds
Class: Senior
2024 stats: 109 total tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 1 sack
As a four-star recruit in the class of 2021, Stutsman signed with Oklahoma out of Florida. He played a decent amount as a freshman, registering 38 total tackles. Sutsman had a larger role in 2022, playing well with 125 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss and three sacks. He helped the Sooners win six games that season. In 2023, Sutsman tallied 104 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and three sacks. His play aided the Sooners in winning 10 games that season. For the 2024 season, Stutsman registered 109 total tackles, eight tackles for loss and one sack. He led the Sooners to a six-win season.
Following the season, Sutsman has been preparing for the 2025 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a third to fifth round pick.
Stutsman is solid size for a linebacker at the NFL level. He stands 6-foot-3 and 233 pounds, which gives him good strength for the position as well. Stutsman has solid arm length as well, measuring in at over 32 inches. His play strength and length help him to shed blocks and attack them.
He is a good run defender in a few different ways. Stutsman is able to diagnose plays quickly and then go and find the ball. He shows decent pursuit, although he can overrun some plays. Sutsman attacks blocks well, shedding decently, but he can also elude blocks too. He was able to notch a lot of tackles during his college career with his run-stopping ability.
His speed is solid for his position. Stutsman has good range and has shown nice linear athleticism. He has good quickness and converts it into solid long speed. Sutsman shows his range with his pursuit, as he can cover a lot of ground to help stop ball carriers. While he can overrun plays, some of that is a product of his speed.
His coverage won’t stack up well favorably to other linebackers in the class. He struggles to stay connected in man-to-man coverage and can even struggle with tight ends, even though he has good size. In zone coverage, he has the ability to be solid at times, but also shows a lack of focus at other times.
While he made a lot of tackles during his college career, Stutsman also missed a lot of tackles. He can hit hard, but also needs to show better form tackling. Ball carriers can escape his grasp, so wrapping up will be crucial for him. If he can clean up some of the misses, it will really help him be an impactful defender.
He has solid quickness and nice speed, but can have trouble changing directions. This makes it harder for him if he misdiagnoses a run play to make a tackle on the ball. It also can give him struggles in coverage too, specifically in man-to-man coverage.
Projected Draft Range: Third Round Pick-Fifth Round Pick
Draft Grade: Third Round Pick
