The 2025 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Cameron Williams NFL Draft Profile.
Position: Offensive Tackle
School: Texas
Size: 6-foot-5, 335 pounds
Class: Junior
2024 stats: N/A
Williams was a four-star recruit in the class of 2022 who stayed in-state to play for Texas. He played primarily on special teams in 2022, then started one game in 2023. Williams stepped into the starting lineup at right tackle in 2024 and played well. His play helped the Longhorns win 13 games and make the College Football Playoff semi-finals.
Following the appearance in the CFP, Williams declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a day two pick.
Williams has great size and strength for an offensive tackle in the NFL. He stands 6-foot-6 and 335 pounds, which makes him one of the bigger tackles in the class. Williams also has good length to go with his size. His size, strength and length all work well for him to neutralize defensive linemen.
He excels at run blocking at this point in his career. Williams can block his matchup and his strength gives opponents little chance to shed. He can get to the second level decently well, with decent linear movement skills. While he won’t be good in space, he can maul and move his defender out of the way.
In pass protection, Williams can handle power rushers better than most other tackle prospects. He has a strong anchor and doesn’t get moved off of his spot very often. His strength helps him handle even the most powerful of edge rushers and that can translate to the NFL.
Williams isn’t a great athlete for the position in a few ways. He can’t always mirror athletic pass rushers because his lateral movement isn’t up to par. This also impacts his ability to get outside on screens and pulls. He doesn’t have great flexibility either, which makes it tougher for him to block athletic defensive linemen.
He needs to work on his hand placement and timing, as it was all over the place last season. Williams needs faster hands, because when he hits, he does so with heavy, strong hands. That can really slow down defenders. He also needs to make sure his hands stay inside and don’t get too far wide.
In college, Williams only started for one season, making him inexperienced. He has fewer reps than most other offensive tackles in the class. With that, Williams can fix a lot of his technique and footwork. It may take time for him to fix that, but also to see the position clearly when he is on the field.
Projected Draft Range: Second Round Pick-Third Round Pick
Draft Grade: Third Round Pick
