The 2025 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Cam Skattebo NFL Draft Profile.
Position: Running Back

2024 stats: 293 carries, 1,711 rushing yards, 21 rushing touchdowns, 5.8 yards per rush, 45 receptions, 605 receiving yards, 3 touchdown catches
Skattebo was an unranked recruit in the class of 2020 who signed on to play with Sacramento State at the FCS level. He was named Third Team All-Big Sky in 2021 with 520 yards and six touchdowns. In 2022, he was the Big Sky Player of the Year with 1.382 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. Following the 2022 season, Skattebo transferred to Arizona State. In 2023, Skattebo totaled 783 rushing yards, 295 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. The Sun Devils won just three games that season. For the 2024 season, Skattebo registered 1,711 rushing yards, 605 receiving yards and 24 total touchdowns. He helped Arizona State improve to 11 wins and an appearance in the College Football Playoff.
Following the run to the College Football Playoff, Skattebo has been preparing for the 2025 NFL Draft. He is projected to be a day-two pick.
Skattebo has a good build for an NFL running back, standing 5-foot-11 and 215 pounds. He shows good power and contact balance, often breaking tackles, especially when defenders just try to use their arms to bring him down. Skattebo does well in short-yardage situations and at the goal line. He runs hard, which with his size, makes him tough to tackle.
He has shown to be a good receiver out of the backfield during his college career. Skattebo is a decent route runner and can run several different routes. He can catch out of the backfield or be split out wide to create matchup problems for a defense. His hands are solid and once the ball is in his hands, he quickly transitions to showing good ability to run after the catch.
His vision is solid for an NFL Draft prospect. Skattebo shows decent patience and allows holes to open up in front of him. He can run two where the play is designed or hit a cut-back lane if one opens up. His vision extends to the second level, where he can find the best path to run to pick up the maximum amount of yardage.
Skattebo has average at best long speed for an NFL running back. He has enough speed to be a successful running back at the next level, but there won’t be many huge gains where he outruns the defense. Skattebo will pick up yardage because of his power and vision rather than his speed.
He doesn’t have the greatest agility or elusiveness. Skattebo can occasionally make a defender miss, but he mostly picks up yards by running through arm tackles. His best running is when he runs straight-forward with his power. There will be times when he could use his power, but instead decides to elude defenders, which doesn’t always go his way.
During his college career, Skattebo had plenty of wear and tear. He had nearly 350 touches in 2024, but he also had so many touches throughout his time at Sacramento State and Arizona State. Skattebo had a shoulder injury during his time in college and will need to stay healthy at the next level.
Projected Draft Range: Second Round Pick-Third Round Pick
Draft Grade: Third Round Pick
