The 2024 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Braden Fiske 2024 NFL Draft Profile.
Braden Fiske Background
Position: Interior Defensive line
School: Florida State
Size:Â 6-foot-4, 292 pounds
Class: Senior
2023 stats:Â 43 total tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 6 sacks
Fiske starred at Western Michigan before transferring over and playing well at Florida State. Now he is in the 2024 NFL Draft.
As a three-star recruit in the class of 2018, Fiske signed with Western Michigan out of Indiana. He redshirted in 2018, then in 2019 registered 24 tackles, two tackles for loss and one sack. His role increased in 2020, as he racked up 23 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks in just six games played. In 2021, he tallied 42 total tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and four sacks. His play helped the Broncos win eight games that season. For the 2022 season, Fiske had 59 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss and six sacks. Western Michigan only won four games that season. Fiske decided to transfer to Florida State for the 2023 season. He totaled 43 tackles, nine tackles for loss and six sacks. His play was a big part of Florida State going undefeated in the regular season.
Following the 2023 season, Fiske declared for the 2024 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a second to fourth-round pick.
Braden Fiske Strengths
Fiske has a great first step that sets him up for success on most plays. He gets a good jump on the snap and makes offensive linemen react quickly. This quick first step helps him attack gaps and create havoc early on in the play.
He is a good athlete in a few different ways. Fiske has good quickness, which shows up at the snap. He has good lateral mobility and speed as well. This helps him rush, but also pursue the football. Fiske has decent flexibility for an interior defensive lineman
His motor will help him a lot at the next level. Fiske keeps working toward the quarterback while rushing for an extended period of time. He makes a lot of progress with his secondary rush efforts. His motor also shows up when defending the run, as his pursuit can take him far away from his initial spot.
Braden Fiske Weaknesses
Fiske has a solid size for the position, but he does have shorter arms, which measured in at 31 inches at the NFL Combine. These shorter arms make it harder for him to shed blocks. He needs strong hands to disengage, but also can elude blocks rather than shedding.
He doesn’t have the best play strength, which can impact things in a few ways. Fiske can struggle to take on double teams. Against single blocks he can struggle to hold his ground and anchor to a spot as well. He can add strength to his frame to help improve.
A lot of his pass rush production comes from his athletics and motor. He can get to the quarterback more frequently by adding more pass-rush moves to his arsenal. That with a plan for every snap could make him a good interior rusher at the next level.
