The 2025 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Benjamin Morrison NFL Draft Profile.
Position: Cornerback
School: Notre Dame
Size: 6-foot, 193 pounds
Class: Junior
2024 stats: 20 total tackles, 4 passes defended (Six games played-hip injury)
Morrison was a four-star recruit in the class of 2022 who signed with Notre Dame out of Arizona. He played immediately, racking up 33 total tackles, six interceptions and four passes defended. Morrison helped the team win nine games that season. In 2023, he had 31 total tackles, three interceptions and 10 passes defended. His play helped the team to improve to 10 wins in 2023. For the 2024 season, he tallied 20 tackles and four passes defended. He only played in six game, after missing the rest of the season for a hip injury. His play early in the season helped Notre Dame and they went on to eventually make the National Championship Game.
Following the season, Morrison declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a day-two pick.
Morrison has great ball skills and that led to great production during his career. He does a great job of tracking the ball in the air and can high point it. When the ball is in the air, he moves toward it quickly and attacks the catchpoint. He is capable of coming down with interceptions, but also can defelcet the pass if he can’t catch it.
His awareness and route recognition skills help him to be in position. He excelled in off-coverage, which gave him the opportunity to see where a wide receiver would break with great anticipation. Morrison can then make more plays on the ball and improve his coverage because of his ability to see this.
With his off-coverage ability, Morrison has good zone coverage potential. He has the ability to use his eyes well. Morrison is able to balance his eyes between quarterbacks and receivers in his zone well. He can make plays on the ball and adjust his coverage well to what routes are coming his way.
Morrison can struggle in press coverage. He doesn’t have the greatest size or physicality, so he struggles to jam wide receivers at the line of scrimmage. Because he doesn’t have that physicality, it puts more pressure on him to mirror wide receivers and he isn’t always able to do that.
While he has decent effort ot help stop the run, he doesn’t always have the biggest impact. He could shed and get around blocks better. Even though he takes solid pursuit angles to the ball, he can sometimes struggle to complete the play with a good form tackle. Adding strength will help, but he will need to be more committed as well.
His hip injury will have to be checked out by NFL teams. He missed a lot of time and it has hurt his draft value already. When he comes back from the injury, it will be imprortant to see how he does in man coverage, specifically when he has to turn his hips to run with receivers.
Projected Draft Range: Second Round Pick-Third Round Pick
Draft Grade: Second Round Pick
