The 2025 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Azareye’h Thomas NFL Draft Profile.
Position: Cornerback
School: Florida State
Size: 6-foot-1 and 1/2, 197 pounds
Class: Senior
2024 stats: 52 total tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 1 interception, 4 passes defended
Thomas was a four-star prospect who decided to stay in state to play for the Seminoles in the class of 2022. He played as a reserve in 2022, registering 14 total tackles, one pass defended and one interception. Thomas started one game in 2023, totaling 29 tackles and 10 passes defended. He helped Florida State to an undefeated regular season. As a starter in 2024, Thomas totaled 52 tackles, one interception and four passes defended. While he played decently, Florida State struggled with just two wins on the season.
Following the season, Thomas declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a day two pick.
Thomas has good size for an NFL cornerback. He stands at over 6-foot-1 and 197 pounds. Thomas has solid play strength and could fill out his frame a little bit more to add to it. With his size, he has good length as well, with over 32-inch arms. His size and length allows him to play a physical brand of football for the position.
His press coverage is among the best in the class. He smothers receivers early in their routes to completely disrupt the play. Thomas uses his strength to jam receivers, which throws off the timing of the play. That physicality keeps coming from Thomas throughout the play, which can frustrate receivers.
He is willing in run support and can have an impact stopping the run. Thomas can use his length to shed blocks better than a lot of corners. He can also elude blocks to go and pursue the ball carrier. While he isn’t the most consistent tackler, his presence can contain runners and help the team.
While he is a solid athlete, he has just average speed. He can struggle to keep up with speedy receivers. It makes it tough for him to catch up when receivers get a step on him as well, because he has just average recovery speed. Thomas will have to be efficient with his press and be physical with receivers to win matchups against faster players.
Thomas can struggle to mirror receivers in man-to-man coverage. When receivers are getting in and out of their breaks, he doesn’t have the smoothest hips to change directions and stay with them. Thomas can struggle with good route runners and defaults to bumping receivers off their routes, which could draw more flags at the NFL level.
His awareness in coverage and route recognition could improve. Thomas doesn’t always read route breaks well before they happen, which makes it harder for him to keep up with receivers. In zone coverage he could see things quicker and be more aggressive to make more plays.
Projected Draft Range: Second Round Pick-Third Round Pick
Draft Grade: Third Round Pick
