The 2025 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Ashton Jeanty NFL Draft Profile.
Position: Running Back
School: Boise State
Size: 5-foot-9, 215 pounds
Class: Junior
2024 stats: 374 carries, 2,601 rushing yards, 29 rushing touchdowns, 7.0 yards per rush, 23 receptions, 138 receiving yards, 1 touchdown reception
Jeanty was a four-star recruit out of Texas who signed with Boise State in the class of 2022. He immediately hit the ground running for the Broncos, totaling 821 rushing, 155 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. He helped the team win eight games that season. Jeanty really blossomed in 2023, with 1,347 rushing yards, 569 receiving yards and 19 total touchdowns. Boise had another good season as a result, with eight wins. Jeanty was a Heisman Finalist in 2024 with 2,601 rushing yards, 138 receiving yards and 30 touchdowns. His play led Boise State to a 12-2 overall record and an appearance in the first 12-team College Football Playoff.
Following the College Football Playoff, Jeanty declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. He is a projected first-round pick.
Jeanty is a short, but compact running back at 5-foot-9 and 215 pounds. This gives him tremendous power and contact balance. Jeanty can break tackles and defenders have to be sure to not arm tackle him. When he isn’t trying to make defenders miss, Jeanty can lower his shoulder and pick up extra yards.
He is a home run threat every time he touches the ball for a few reasons. Jeanty has good acceleration at the start of the rep, but especially when he sees open space. He has the agility and elusiveness to make people miss in the open field. After he gets to the second level, he has the speed to take the ball to the end zone with regularity. His highlight reel is filled with big plays.
His vision is solid for a running back prospect. He has good patience to allow holes to open in front of him. If necessary, he can cut back and go even where plays aren’t designed to go. This vision extends to the open field as well, as he can see the best path to take to maximize yardage on the play.
There won’t be many weaknesses for Jeanty, but he does run a little bit high. He could maintain his power better if he kept his pad level lower. Defenders also have more area to hit in order to bring him to the ground. Staying lower to the ground could help Jeanty improve.
Jeanty went through a lot of wear and tear during his time at Boise State. He had 830 touches in his three seasons with the Broncos. That wear and tear showed up at the end of the 2024 season, even if he avoided major injury.
His pass protection could improve as well. He is willing as a pass blocker, but could have better technique. Jeanty needs to keep his hands can stay inside more so that he can sustain his blocks. He can also recognize where pressure is coming from sooner to help with this.
