The 2025 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Andrew Mukuba NFL Draft Profile.
Position: Safety
School: Texas
Size: 5-foot-11, 186 pounds
Class: Senior
2024 stats: 69 total tackles, 4 tackles for loss, five interceptions, seven passes defended, 1 forced fumble
Mukuba was a four-star recruit in the class of 2021 and signed with Clemson out of Texas. He played immediately, registering 47 total tackles and seven passes defended. His play helped Clemson get 10 wins that season. In 2022, he racked up 54 total tackles, one interception and three passes defended. He aided the Tigers in winning 11 games in 2022. For the 2023 season, he had 42 total tackles and six passes defended. In his last season with the Tigers, they won nine games. He transferred to Texas in 2024. He tallied 69 total tackles, five interceptions and seven passes defended. Mukuba led the Longhorns to a CFP appearance.
Following the season, Mukuba has been preparing for the 2025 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a day-two pick.
Mukuba is an athletic safety in a lot of ways. He is able to move quickly in short areas with good acceleration. Mukuba changes directions well, moving laterally fluidly. While he isn’t the fastest safety, he has decent top-end speed. This helps him have great range on the back end and have good versatility.
His awareness is great, as he sees the field well from the safety spot. He has played a lot of career snaps and that experience shows up on tape. Mukuba has great route recognition and has good anticipation. He diagnoses plays quickly and then breaks on them well, using his experience to his advantage.
He has good ball skills for a safety as well. Mukuba tracks the ball in the air well and is able to high-point the football. He attacks the catchpoint aggressively, making it tough for wide receivers to make catches. Mukuba is able to deflect passes when he can’t intercept it, but when he does have the ball in his hands, he is a threat.
Mukuba is a little undersized for a safety. He stands at 5-foot-11 and 186 pounds, making him one of the smaller safeties (non-slot) in the class. Mukuba needs to fill out his frame to add play strength and help him match up with bigger receivers. He also has limited length, so bigger receivers can give him issues.
He needs to trust his ability to cover more, because he is too grabby in coverage. When he gets a little bit behind, he tends to get too physical with receivers. He has enough recovery burst to catch up and get in position. If he continues to grab, he will get flagged more in the NFL.
Although he can diagnose run plays quickly, he won’t have the biggest impact against the run. He struggles to shed and elude blocks, so getting through traffic to make plays is tough for him. Mukuba has a limited tackle radius and runners can get around him. Mukuba can play more measured and disciplined to help against the run.
Projected Draft Range: Second Round Pick-Third Round Pick
