The 2026 NFL Draft is over and teams are getting comfortable with their new draft picks. The next class of players is getting prepared now for another year of college football. Each position will be analyzed in the coming days. Here is the 2027 NFL Draft prospect watchlist: Tight Ends.
Carter was a three-star recruit in the class of 2022 who signed with Louisiana out of Texas. He didn’t play much in his first season, then had 28 catches for 255 yards and three touchdowns. Carter improved in 2023, hauling in 48 catches for 689 yards and four touchdowns. Following the season, he transferred to Texas Tech. In 2025 with the Red Raiders, he caught 55 passes for 624 yards and five touchdowns. Although he could’ve gone pro, Carter returned to Texas Tech for the 2026 season.
At 6-foot-2 and 245 pounds, Carter is an undersized tight end. He is willing as a blocker and showed his athleticism as a receiver. Carter can run routes well, pick up yards after the catch and has nice hands. Carter will not have a huge catch radius and may not be a candidate for starting in-line at the next level. Another good season for Texas Tech can help his stock, despite his size.
Green was a four-star recruit in the class of 2024 who decided to stay in-state to play for the Tigers. He played solidly as a freshman, catching 13 passes for 101 yards and four touchdowns. His production improved in 2024, as he had 33 catches for 433 yards and seven touchdowns. While LSU didn’t have the season they wanted last season, Green was a bright spot who could help the team improve in 2026.
He has a huge frame at 6-foot-7 and 237 pounds, but he’ll need to continue to work on filling it out. Green is a red zone threat with his huge catch radius, but he also moves very well for his size. He can improve his run blocking and get in and out of the breaks in his routes quicker. Green has plenty of potential for production this season in Lane Kiffin’s offense.
As a four-star recruit in the class of 2024, Johnson signed with Louisville out of California. After redshirting his first season on campus, Johnson had 13 catches for 158 yards and one touchdown in 2024. Before the 2025 season, Johnson transferred to Oregon. He played alongside Kenyon Sadiq, but still had 32 catches for 510 yards and three touchdowns. Johnson is expected to do more for the Ducks in 2026 with Sadiq moving on to the NFL.
He has solid size for the position at 6-foot-5 and 257 pounds. Johnson runs routes well and has good hands. He is a good athlete for his size and his production was great for Oregon, especially given the circumstances. Johnson can work on his blocking to really fit in as an in-line tight end at the next level.
Benjamin Brahmer, Penn State Nittany Lions
Brahmer is one of many players going from Iowa State to Penn State this offseason. He is an average athlete and needs some work on his blocking. Brahmer uses his body well and is a red zone threat/quarterback-friendly target.
Peter Clarke, Temple Owls
Clarke has prototypical size for the tight end position and uses it as a good blocker. He had good production at Temple, but will need to work on his game more, as he isn’t playing elite competition and is still relatively new to the sport, as he came over from England.
Lawson Luckie, Georgia Bulldogs
Luckie hasn’t had great production, but now Oscar Delp is in the NFL, so more will be expected of him. He finds the soft spot against zone, uses his size well and can create some separation in man coverage. Upping his production and blocking better will help his stock.
