2026 NFL Draft Prospect Watchlist: Quarterbacks

Publish Date: May 5, 2025

The 2025 NFL Draft is over and teams are getting comfortable with their new draft picks. The next class of players is getting prepared now for another year of college football. Each position will be analyzed in the coming days. Here is the 2026 NFL Draft prospect watchlist: Quarterbacks.

Drew Allar, Penn State Nittany Lions

Allar was a five-star prospect in the class of 2022, who signed with Penn State out of Ohio. He played sparingly as a freshman, passing for 344 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions on 58.3 percent completion. Allar took over as the starter in 2023, passing for 2,631 yards, 25 touchdowns and two interceptions on 59.9 percent completion. He helped the team go 10-3 on the season. In 2024, Allar passed for 3,327 yards, 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions on 66.5 percent completion. He played well down the stretch and led the team to a CFP semi-final. Allar protects the football well and has solid decision-making. He throws a nice deep ball and has good short accuracy. His arm talent is noticeable and he has the size of an NFL quarterback. He can work on processing quicker and not locking in on one receiver. Allar can also handle pressure better, but doesn’t have the greatest mobility to escape it. He could have entered the 2025 NFL Draft and with a step forward, could be the first overall pick in 2026.

Cade Klubnik, Clemson Tigers

As a five-star prospect in the class of 2022, signing with Clemson out of Texas. Klubnik played a little as a freshman, passing for 697 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions on 61 percent completion. He took over as the full-time starter in 2023, passing for 2,844 yards and 19 touchdowns and nine interceptions on 63.9 percent completion. Klubnik helped the team win nine games that season. In 2024, Klubnik showed improvement, passing for 3,639 yards, 36 touchdowns and six interceptions on 63.4 percent completion. He led the team to 10 wins and a CFP appearance. Klubnik showed improved mobility and was a threat with his legs last season. He has decent size, good athleticism and has plenty of experience. His accuracy is good and he showed the ability to layer throws to the intermediate part of the field. His arm talent is just average and he needs to show he can make better decisions against pressure. Klubnik raised his stock in 2024 and can do the same in 2025.

Arch Manning, Texas Longhorns

Manning was a five-star recruit in the class of 2023 who signed with Texas out of Louisiana. He comes from a great family and was a touted recruit, but sat most of his freshman season. Manning passed for 30 yards in 2023. In 2024, he saw more playing time as the backup, passing for 939 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions. His play helped Texas make the CFP. He is a good athlete with a strong arm and has the size of an NFL quarterback. Manning is patient in the pocket with a good deep ball and nice touch. He lacks experience and will have a lot to prove this season. Showing he  can make good decisions under pressure this season will be crucial. There is a chance he returns to college for the 2026 season, but if he plays well enough he could be the top pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Garrett Nussmeier, LSU Tigers

In the class of 2021, Nussmeier was a four-star recruit who signed with LSU out of Texas. He only played sparingly in his first three seasons at the school. Nussmeier passed for 1,720 yards, 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions in his first three seasons. Nussmeier took over the starting job in 2024, passing for 4,052 yards, 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions on 64.2 percent completion. He led the Tigers to a nine-win season. Nussmeier has a good football IQ and accuracy to go with it. He goes through his progressions well and when he has time he can shred apart a defense. Nussmeier has stepped up in the clutch and has solid arm strength. He can see things better pre-snap and can take sacks at times instead of putting the ball in harm’s way. Nussmeier is a limited athlete who won’t make plays out of structure, but has shown enough to make him worth considering one of the top prospects this season.

LaNorris Sellers, South Carolina

Sellers was a three-star prospect in the class of 2023, who stayed in-state to play for the Gamecocks. He passed for 86 yards and two touchdowns in 2023. In 2024, he started for South Carolina, passing for 2,534 yards, 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions on 65.6 percent completion. He also rushed for 674 yards and seven touchdowns. Sellers helped the Gamecocks win nine games in 2024. He is a good athlete who can do damage on designed runs, but also makes plays out of structure. Sellers has good play strength and also has a strong arm. He needs to be more consistent with his accuracy and his touch on passes. Sellers can also work on staying in the pocket more, as he flees too early at times. If he can play with better anticipation, his stock will go up. Sellers has the athleticism and size of a quarterback, but needs to refine his game to help him reach his full potential.

Other Prospects to Watch

Carson Beck, Miami Hurricanes- Beck was in this article last season, but regressed. Now he is with Miami and he’ll have to lean on his good short and intermediate accuracy and hopefully he can have a better season in 2024.

Eli Holstein, Pittsburgh Panthers- Holstein started his career at Alabama before transferring to Pitt last season. In his first season as a starter, he passed for 2,228 yards and 17 touchdowns. He will need to take a step forward to be considered a prospect early in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Sam Leavitt, Arizona State Sun Devils- Leavitt helped Arizona State make the CFP last season. He has decent athleticism and can make plays out of structure. Leavitt protects the ball and anticipates well. He throws off his back foot too much and can go through his progressions quicker. Another season can really boost his stock.

John Mateer, Oklahoma Sooners- Mateer sat behind Cam Ward at Washington State, then played last season and impressed. While he doesn’t have the size of other NFL Draft prospects, Mateer makes plays out of structure and has solid accuracy.

Miller Moss, Louisville Cardinals- Moss transferred from USC to Louisville this offseason. He has good accuracy and mechanics. His pre-snap awareness helps him. He doesn’t have great athleticism and has limited arm strength, but should be productive in Jeff Brohm’s system.
