What Do the Worst Teams in the NBA Need ?

First off

While the bottom five teams are all thinking about Zion Williamson and R.J. Barrett, their fans are more concerned with them improving. So what do the worst teams in the NBA need to do better?

New York Knicks

The Knicks are currently the best of the worst this season with a record of 8-20. The Knicks are also currently ranked 20th in offensive efficiency and 27th in defensive efficiency.

So what can the Knicks do to help salvage this season? They need to find a player who compliments Kristaps Porzingis. When Porzingis makes his NBA return we can expect it to be big. What could be better for a young Knicks team than getting their star player back as well as getting another mid-level star to help boost their wins?

The great thing about signing an established star is that not only will the Knicks have some better veteran experience for their squad, but a player that can come in and make an impact on and off the court is invaluable to just about any team.

Atlanta Hawks

The Hawks are an interesting team in that season in and season out they seem to be irrelevant. Even years ago when they were making playoff runs it seemed that the Hawks were always forgotten about.

Now that the Hawks have some young and upcoming players in Trae Young and John Collins they seem to finally be gaining some relevance. This, however, does not change the fact that they are at a lowly 6-20 record.

As it stands the best thing for the Hawks would be to allow their veteran players like Kent Bazemore and Vince Carter mentor their young players and help develop them. After riding out this season making a splash in the draft could help them get a boost in the East and maybe even a playoff berth.

Cleveland Cavaliers

Poor Cleveland. At this point that is all that can be said. From LeBron’s second departure to Kyrie getting out, and Kevin Love injuries, it has not been an easy time for the Cavaliers fans

Sitting at 6-21 the Cavs are looking at another potential rebuild. But trying to rebuild around Kevin Love could prove challenging and building around rookie Collin Sexton is a risk that the team might have to take.

Building around Sexton at this point is certainly a risk, but who’s to say Sexton won’t be a star point guard? Picking up veteran John Henson was a great move and with a few more trades and a good draft pick the Cavs could be headed back in the right direction.

Chicago Bulls

The Bulls have fallen far. Very far. From there consistent playoff appearances throughout the 2010s to now it doesn’t seem like this team could do much worse.

How can the Bulls find a way back into the playoffs? Cohesion. The team, on paper, should be performing a lot better than they currently are. The front office and players need to figure out the coaching situation and quit feuding. Once they find a system that works this team will play better and maybe string together a few wins.

Phoenix Suns

Since 2010 this team has been failing miserably in the Western Conference.

Maybe it’s time to move out of Phoenix and land somewhere in the East. With the way this team is playing now, they won’t make the playoffs for another 10 years.

It’s a shame that talents like Devin Booker get stuck on a team like this. Even though all the problems this team has, a player of his caliber is still showing off how good he is.

In reality, their only hope may be to score the first, second or third picks for the next couple of years and hope their picks don’t wind up as busts (looking at you Dragan Bender).

If by some chance they land a star in the draft and encourage some big free agents to come to Phoenix then maybe, just maybe, will they be able to compete in the West. But for now, don’t hold out any hope.

But of course, for any of these teams adding a player like Zion Williamson will help them improve immediately.
