It was reported earlier that OKC made a “huge offer” for the number one pick in the draft. Despite it being a great deal, Detroit declined. This news report alone shows that this draft might be a crazy one. There are multiple teams vying for the top pick so OKC could still look to get it off of them. Here are some offers OKC could send Detroit that could possibly land them the first overall pick:
There’s no doubt that the Cavs need to get rid of Love. Love has been in the rumor mill for a while now and last year, he really showed his distaste with the organization. Ever since this mental error against the Raptors, his name has popped up in many trade rumors. OKC could trade their 6th and 16th overall picks along with a protected first round pick. In return, they get Love and the Cavs third overall pick. This could be a great package for OKC as they have a ton of cap space and plethora of picks including the third pick. After making this trade, the Thunder could use Love and the third overall pick in a package for Detroit’s pick.
Assuming Detroit is interested in the third overall pick in a very deep class and an aging Love, this is a great package for the Thunder. Detroit is interested in and only in Cade Cunningham. However, this draft class is deep and contains many potential superstars. Detroit could possibly use Love as another trade piece and gather more picks, young prospects in return but for right now it is uncertain if the Pistons are really in the mood to trade their pick.
Alexander is a highly-coveted player in the NBA. His improvement over his first three seasons has teams asking about his availability. Add in the fact that OKC is said to be looking to possibly trade him soon. If that happens, Alexander would more than likely be used in a package that would send him to Detroit. This draft is going to be a good one and going back five spots shouldn’t affect them as they’ll still have some stars available. Not to mention they have a star in Alexander. If they are able to land Alexander and maintain their young core in Saddiq Bey, Isaiah Stewart and Killian Hayes, this team will be one to look out for in the future.
