The Golden State Warriors are reportedly closing in on a major trade. Just a few days after Chris Paul was traded to the Wizards for Bradley Beal, Washington is moving him again. It seems as if Golden State is sending a protected 2030 first round pick and a 2027 second round pick to Washington.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the news via Twitter on Thursday.
Along with the picks, Washington is also reportedly receiving shooting guard Jordan Poole. At the beginning of their 2023 title defense, an altercation between Poole and Draymond Green was filmed and leaked in which Green hit Poole in the face. This and some playoff struggles may have led Golden State to consider moving him.
Paul is entering his age-38 season, and was previously the orchestrator of the Phoenix Suns offense, which led them to an NBA Finals back in 2021. Being that the Wizards aren’t expected to contend next season, Paul was always likely to be traded before the season began, or at the trade deadline.
