Edgecombe was a five-star recruit in the class of 2024 who signed with Baylor out of New York. He played well in his lone season for the Bears with 15 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. His game helped Baylor make the NCAA Tournament, but they lost in the second round.
Following the season, Edgecombe declared for the 2025 NBA Draft. He is currently a projected lottery pick.
Edgecombe is a premier athlete in this draft class. He has great leaping ability, which helps him throw down highlight-reel worthy dunks. Edgecombe also finishes well because of his athleticism. He has solid quickness and speed as well, making him really hard to match up with in transition.
He can be smothering on defense when guarding on the ball. His athleticism helps him stay in front of drivers and contest shots. With this, he can develop into an elite “3 and D” player with more work. His defense also shows up off-ball, as he can jump passing lanes to get steals.
His passing is great, especially for a wing player that isn’t always controlling the ball. He averaged 3.2 assists per game, which is well above his 1.9 turnovers per game. Edgecombe sees the floor well and is willing to pass the ball to open teammates when he sees them. He can play more on-ball in the NBA because of this.
He is a streaky outside shooter at times and shot 34 percent from deep at Baylor. His shot improved as the season went on, but he will still want to work on it in the future. Edgecombe can become more consistent and can turn his shot into a real strength of his game at the next level.
For a wing player, Edgecombe isn’t the biggest. He stands at 6-foot-4 and 193.2 pounds, so he will be matching up with bigger players. His athleticism will help, but he will also want to fill out his frame a bit more to add play strength. This will help him on the offensive side of the ball as well.
His ball-handling is ok, but he can continue working on it. Sometimes he is too fast for his dribble and can lose it. If he can play under control at his speed, his driving will be even better. He can also create his own shot better by freeing up more space with dribble moves at the next level.
