Jackson is the rare player that stayed for four seasons in college as a prospect. Now he is in the 2023 NBA Draft.

As a four-star prospect out of Indiana, Jackson-Davis decided to stay in the state to play for the Hoosiers. In his freshman season, Jackson-Davis averaged 13.5 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. He helped the Hoosiers go 20-12, but there was no postseason held that season due to COVID. Jackson-Davis improved his averages to 19.1 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in 2020-2021, but the Hoosiers failed to make the postseason with a 12-15 record. For the 2021-2022 season, Jackson-Davis put up 18.3 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Indiana made the NCAA Tournament that season, but lost in the first round. Last season, Jackson-Davis had an incredible season in which he averaged a double-double with 20.9 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. Jackson-Davis helped the team advance to the second round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

Following the season, Jackson-Davis declared for the 2023 NBA Draft. He is currently projected to be a first-round pick.

Trayce Jackson-Davis Strengths

Jackson-Davis is one of the most efficient interior scorers in this draft class. He gets into good position to post up. Jackson-Davis can spin quickly and create space for himself. Once he gets a step on his defender, he can finish with a dunk or a layup. A lot of times he can draw a foul if he isn’t able to finish. He is left-hand dominant, but finishes well.

He is also one of the best rebounders in the draft class. Jackson-Davis shows a good motor by boxing out and then chasing down rebounds. He recognizes how the ball will come off the rim and then has the athleticism to high-point the ball and come down with it. His rebounding shows up at both ends of the floor, as he can give his team second-chance opportunities.

An underrated part of his game is his ability to protect the rim. He averaged 2.3 and 2.9 blocks per game in each of the last two seasons at Indiana. Jackson-Davis shows good jump timing when he is defending on-ball to block shots. When he is playing off the ball, he shows good recognition of when to help to best protect the rim.

Trayce Jackson-Davis Weaknesses

Jackson-Davis is not a great shooter. He did not make a 3-point shot during his collegiate career. Jackson-Davis will not be able to space the floor because of this. He is still working on his mid-range jump shot as well. To add to it, he has shot under 70 percent from the free throw line in each of his four seasons at Indiana.

As mentioned earlier, Jackson-Davis needs to continue working on using his right hand. He is a left-hand dominant player and could be even better converting on the interior if he could finish with his right. This left-hand dominance includes his ball-handling, as he is best at creating space for himself in the post by using his left hand.

He can be a small-ball center, but will struggle to play power forward because of his lack of shooting. As a small-ball center, he will be giving up size to much bigger players on the interior. He has solid strength, but may have trouble battling in the post as well.

Projected Draft Range: Late First-Round Pick
